Therapeutic Benefits Of Kayam Churna
Ayurveda, a centuries-old practice strongly recommends the use of this herbal concoction in the treatment of constipation. It actively increases secretion of bile by the liver, which in turn, acts on the peristalsis movement of the intestines and liver, thereby allowing smooth passage of faecal matter from the large intestine. It also plays a pivotal role in minimalizing mucous and excess fat content in the stools and preventing them from sticking to the intestinal walls and thereby allowing easy movement.
Thanks to the powerful digestive properties, kayam churna facilitates in breaking down of food particles in the stomach and intestine, promotes the secretion of the digestive juices and thereby increases the absorption of essential nutrients through the intestines. Not only does it help to eliminate abdominal gas while reducing abdominal distension, bloating and gaseous cramps but also holds high significance in treating a host of gastrointestinal disorders.
IBS also known as Grahani in Sanskrit is mostly caused due to unhealthy dietary choices, excessive intake of food particles which are difficult to digest, intake of foods that cause allergy, or the ones that are low on nutrients, overeating, eating at irregular intervals, and other physical and mental factors. It can cause both diarrhoea and constipation. The use of the incredible herbs in kayam churna make it an ultimate choice for treating this painful disease. Kayam Churna: 1 - 2 tsp
Kayam Gutika/ Tablet: 1 – 2
Although it is an absolute remedy for digestive anomalies, care should be taken to consume it with doctor’s consultation. Overdosage of the medicine or regular intake can result in developing a laxative habit by weakening the intestines and clashing with the body’s natural peristaltic movements, ultimately leading to chronic obstinate constipation. It can also lead to other complications including diarrhoea, high blood potassium, abdominal pain, loss of fluids, etc. Although it can be consumed in prescribed doses by most adults, pregnant women should avoid ingesting it since it can stimulate contractions of uterus causing bleeding or spotting. Even children below the age of 1 should not be given this medicine.
