    Introduction About ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY

    ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY contains Zolmitriptan which belongs to the group of medicines known as Anti-migraine agents. It is indicated to manage acute migraine headache and other associated symptoms of a migraine attack.

    Migraine headache is caused by widening of the blood vessels in the head. Always use this ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY as advised by your doctor.

    Inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

    Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using this medicine. Consult your doctor for advice.

    It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. The common side effects are vomiting, dizziness, taste change and weakness. Consult your doctor for advice if any of the above side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.

    ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY works by narrowing blood vessels around the brain, stopping pain signals from being sent to the brain and blocks the release of certain natural substances that cause pain, nausea and other symptoms of migraine.

    How to use ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY

    Use this ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY according to the dose and frequency as advised by your doctor. It is for nasal use only. Check the label for directions before use.

    Side Effects Of ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY

    Common

    • disturbed taste
    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • dizziness
    • tiredness
    • weakness
    • drowsiness

    Rare

    Stop using and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • sensations of pain, pressure or tightness in the chest, neck, throat, jaw, arms, or legs
    • shortness of breath, wheeziness, heart throbbing
    • swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, mouth, tongue or neck
    • skin rash, itchy rash, skin lumps or hives, or swelling with fluid in the tissues

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea and Vomiting:

    Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat light bland foods and avoid fried or sweet foods. Consult your doctor for use.

    Dizziness:

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before using.

    Breastfeeding

    ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or handle any machines if you feel drowsiness while using this medicine. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Liver

    ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Allergy

    Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Zolmitriptan or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases, chest pain and uncontrolled hypertension. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Others

    Before using ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY inform your doctor if you have:

    • cerebral bleeding
    • increase in cholesterol levels
    • diabetes
    • epilepsy

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before using ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY inform your doctor if you take any of the following medicine:

    • sumatriptan, naratriptan, rizatriptan, almotriptan (used to manage migraine)
    • fluoxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, venlafaxine, phenelzine, tranylcypromine and moclobemide (used to manage depression)
    • cimetidine (indigestion or stomach ulcers)
    • ciprofloxacin (manages infection)
    • St John’s wort (herbal medicine)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally uses too much of this ZOLMIST NASAL SPRAY consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
