Introduction About ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET is a combination of Chlorpheniramine, Paracetamol and Phenylephrine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines, Analgesics and Nasal decongestants respectively. It is used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever, common cold or other upper respiratory allergies, like headache, facial congestion and pressure, nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, minor aches and pains, itching of the nose, throat or eyes and watery eyes. It can also be used to clear nasal passages and decongest facial openings and passages.
Hay fever is a seasonal allergy that occurs in response to specific allergens like pollens, present at certain times of the year (spring or fall) and causes more short-term symptoms.
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged less than 12 years). Consult your doctor before giving this medicine to your child.
Before taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any kidney, liver, heart, thyroid or lung problems, diabetes or glaucoma.
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women, so consult your doctor before taking it.
The most common side effects of taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET are dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, nose or throat, headache, nausea, nervousness and difficulty in sleeping. Contact your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen.
Uses Of ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET
It is used to:
- relieve the symptoms of hay fever, common cold or other upper respiratory allergies
- to clear nasal passages and decongest facial openings and passages
How ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET Works
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET relieves upper respiratory symptoms where Chlorpheniramine binds to the histamine H1 receptor and blocks its action, resulting in temporary relief of the negative symptoms (runny nose, sneezing, watery and itchy eyes) brought on by histamine, where Paracetamol relieves pain by elevation of the pain threshold and reduces fever by acting on the on the heat-regulating centre in your brain and Phenylephrine constricts blood vessels and reduces the blood flow to certain areas, thus decreasing swelling and allowing nasal and respiratory passages to open up.
How to use ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET
Take ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET as advised by your physician. It can be taken with or without food.
For Tablet, Capsule: Swallow ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse the medicine in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the medicine immediately after reconstitution.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and severity of the infection.
Side Effects Of ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET
Common
- dizziness, drowsiness
- nausea
- dry mouth, nose or throat
- headache
- nervousness
- difficulty in sleeping
Rare
Stop taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, chest tightness, trouble breathing, swollen mouth, face, lips or tongue)
- chest pain, high blood pressure, fast heartbeat
- dark urine, pale faeces, yellow skin or eyes
- trouble urinating
- hallucinations, severe nervousness, shaking
- stomach pain, unusual tiredness
- redness or swelling
- severe throat pain accompanied or followed by fever, headache, rash, nausea or vomiting
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea:
Take ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.
Headache:
Drink ample amount of water. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Ask your doctor before taking any medicine for headache.
Dizziness:
Lie down until dizziness is gone, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Consult your doctor if stomach pain doesn't improve.

Pregnancy
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Breastfeeding
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in breasteeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or use any machines if you feel drowsy or dizzy after taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol with ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET as it may affect you more than usual. ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in patients with alcohol dependence.
Kidney
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in patients having kidney problems, trouble urinating or urinary blockage. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems and viral hepatitis. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET if you are allergic to Chlorpheniramine, Paracetamol, Phenylephrine or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with breathing problems like emphysema or chronic bronchitis. ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in patients with other breathing problems like asthma. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Heart Disease
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET is not recommended in patients with heart disease or high blood pressure. ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in patients with other heart diseases. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have diabetes
- have a condition in which there is increased pressure inside your eye
- have an enlarged prostate gland
- have problems with your adrenal gland
- have trouble sleeping
- have stomach problems
Before taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have an overactive thyroid gland
Use in pediatrics:
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET is not recommended for use in children (aged less than 2 years). Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in geriatrics:
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients as they may be more sensitive to its effect. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine)
- other medicines containing paracetamol
- medicines used to induce sleep or manage anxiety (Ex. zolpidem, diazepam, alprazolam)
- warfarin (use for blood clot)
- medicines used to manage fits (Ex. carbamazepine, phenytoin)
- medicines used to relax muscles (Ex. carisoprodol, cyclobenzaprine)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET, contact your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are liver damage.

Can ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET be crushed?
No. Do not break, crush or chew ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET. Simply swallow it whole with a glass of water. Consult your doctor for advice.
Can I stop taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET?
Do not stop taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET without consulting your doctor. You can do it if you experience any serious side effects with your doctor’s consultation. If you have any more doubts regarding the use of this medicine, ask your doctor.
Can ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET cause dizziness?

Patients taking ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET must inform their doctor about their pre-existing disease conditions like kidney, liver, heart, thyroid or lung problems, diabetes or glaucoma. Contact your doctor if you have any unusual symptoms.
Can ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET be taken in pregnancy?
ZINCOLD JUNIOR TABLET should be used with caution in pregnancy as it is not known if it can harm the unborn baby. If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to get pregnant, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
