Introduction About ZERODOL MR TABLET
ZERODOL MR TABLET is a combination of Aceclofenac and Tizanidine which belongs to the group of medicines called NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs) and Skeletal Muscle Relaxants respectively. It is used to manage the pain and discomfort caused due to muscle spasms.
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having kidney, liver or heart disease, stomach ulcer, problems with blood circulation and bleeding disorders.
ZERODOL MR TABLET should be used with caution in patients having lung disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, porphyria, diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus or chicken pox.
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents aged below 18 years. It should be used with caution in elderly patients. Your doctor may initiate the management with the lowest effective dose for shorter duration.
The most common side effects of taking ZERODOL MR TABLET are nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, tiredness or upset stomach. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

How ZERODOL MR TABLET Works
ZERODOL MR TABLET helps to relieve the pain, redness, swelling and muscle spasms by acting on the inflammatory and pain pathways and blocking a hormone like substance called prostaglandins. ZERODOL MR TABLET also acts on the central nervous system and reduces the release of substances (glutamate and aspartate) that cause muscle stiffness thus, releasing the stiffness and restriction of the muscles.
How to use ZERODOL MR TABLET
Take ZERODOL MR TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of ZERODOL MR TABLET for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ZERODOL MR TABLET
Common
- nausea
- diarrhoea
- drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness
- reduced blood pressure, decreased or increased heart rate
- dry mouth
- upset stomach
Uncommon
- wind
- inflammation or irritation of the lining present stomach
- constipation
- vomiting
- mouth ulcers
- itching, rash, inflammation of the skin, circular raised itchy red, stinging or burning patches on the skin (hives)
Rare
- hypersensitivity (allergic reaction)
- eyesight problems
- heart failure, increased blood pressure, shortness of breath
- bleeding from the stomach or bowel
- stomach or bowel ulceration
- hallucinations
- sleep disorders including difficulty in sleeping
- muscle weakness
Stop taking ZERODOL MR TABLET and talk to your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock), symptoms include fever, difficulty breathing, wheezing, abdominal pain, vomiting, swelling of the face and throat
- severe skin rashes (large blisters and peeling away of the skin). The rash can also appear in the mouth, throat or eyes causing fever, headache and aching of the joints (stevens-johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal Necrolysis)
- meningitis (high fever, headache, vomiting, blotchy red rashes, neck stiffness, light sensitivity and intolerance)
- passing blood in your stools or motions
- passing black tarry stools
- vomiting any blood or dark particles that resemble coffee grounds
- severe indigestion or heartburn
- pain in abdomen, abnormal stomach symptoms
- blood disorders (feeling extremely tired, breathless, aching of the joints and prone to repeated infections and bruising)
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea and vomiting:
Try to take ZERODOL MR TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Constipation:
Eat fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and drink plenty of water. Try to exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve on its own.
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluids such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.
Dry mouth:
Sip water regularly and other sugar-free liquids. Do not use mouthwashes that contain alcohol because they can make your mouth dry, use mouthwash that is used only for dry mouth. Limit your caffeine intake. Avoid smoking or using tobacco products. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Pregnancy
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Breastfeeding
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy, dizzy, eyesight problems, tired or vertigo after taking ZERODOL MR TABLET.

Alcohol
Avoid the use of alcohol while taking ZERODOL MR TABLET as it may increase its sedative effects.

Kidney
ZERODOL MR TABLET not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease and should be used with caution in patients with other kidney diseases. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Liver
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver failure. It should be used with caution in patients having other liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Allergy
Do not take ZERODOL MR TABLET if you are allergic to Aceclofenac, Tizanidine or aspirin or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) such as ibuprofen, naproxen or diclofenac.

Lungs
ZERODOL MR TABLET should be used with caution in patients with lung diseases such as asthma or other breathing problems. Consult your doctor before taking it.

Heart Disease
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart disease such as heart attack or blockages to blood vessels to the heart or an operation to clear or bypass blockages. It should be used with caution in patients having chest pain, blood clots, high blood pressure, raised cholesterol or triglycerides. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have or have a history of stomach ulcer
- have vomited blood or passed blood in stools
- have cerebrovascular disease such as stroke, mini-stroke or blockages to blood vessels to the brain
- have bleeding or clotting disorders
Before taking ZERODOL MR TABLET tell your doctor if you:
- have disorders of the stomach or bowel (ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, ulceration or perforation of the stomach)
- have porphyria
- have diabetes
- have habit of smoking
- have systemic lupus erythematosus or any other connective tissue disorder
- have chicken pox
- are recovering from a major surgery
Use in paediatrics:
ZERODOL MR TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.
Use in geriatrics:
ZERODOL MR TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Your doctor may initiate the management with the lowest effective dose. Consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug – Drug Interactions:
Before taking ZERODOL MR TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- medicines used to manage heart failure and irregular heartbeat (Ex. digoxin, amiodarone, mexiletine, propafenone)
- medicines used to manage high blood pressure (Ex. enalapril, clonidine, moxonidine, lisinopril, losartan, candesartan, hydralazine, methyldopa, propranolol)
- medicines used to manage depression (Ex. citalopram, escitalopram, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine, sertraline), manic depression (lithium), anxiety (Ex. temazepam)
- medicines used to manage infection (ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, enoxacin, pefloxacin, norfloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin)
- medicines used to increase the rate of urine excretion (furosemide, amiloride, thiazides such as chlorothiazide, hydrochlorothiazide)
- medicines used to manage blood clotting (Ex. warfarin, heparin, ticlopidine)
- methotrexate (used to manage cancer)
- mifepristone (used for termination of pregnancy)
- hydrocortisone, prednisolone (used to manage inflammation)
- ciclosporin, tacrolimus (used to suppress the immune system after organ transplant)
- cimetidine (used to manage digestive ulcers)
- zidovudine (used to manage HIV infection)
- antidiabetics such as glibenclamide, glicazide, tolbutamide (used to manage diabetes)
- any other painkiller NSAID drugs (Ex. aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, celecoxib, rofecoxib, etoricoxib)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of ZERODOL MR TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

No, you should not stop taking ZERODOL MR TABLET once you feel relieved from your symptom. Stopping the management with ZERODOL MR TABLET suddenly may cause increased heart rate and raised blood pressure. Talk to your doctor if you wish to discontinue or for any further queries.
