    Introduction About VYLDA P TABLET

    VYLDA P TABLET is a combination of Pioglitazone and Vildagliptin which belongs to a group of medicines called Antidiabetic agents. It is used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus when it is not controlled by diet and exercise alone. Along management with VYLDA P TABLET follow regular exercise and diet plan as advised by the doctor to achieve better results.

    Pioglitazone effectively controls blood sugar levels, and which is PPAR-gamma and PPAR-alpha agonist. It activates certain receptors (PPAR-gamma and PPAR-alpha) in the body which are involved in metabolizing glucose. This makes our body utilize insulin for digesting the circulating blood glucose which in turn decreases blood sugar levels. Additionally, it can also reduce the glucose produced by the liver. Vildagliptin controls blood glucose level by acting on the pancreas to produce more insulin and less glucagon which leads to low production of blood sugar levels resulting in controlled blood glucose levels. 

    VYLDA P TABLET is not recommended if you have diabetic ketoacidosis, abnormal growth cells in the bladder or blood in the urine. Before taking VYLDA P TABLET inform your doctor if you have pancreas disease, type 1 diabetes mellitus, retain water (fluid retention), macular oedema (swelling of the back of the eye) and polycystic ovary syndrome (women). This medicine is not recommended for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is not suitable for use in children and adolescents under 18 years of age.

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience abnormal vision or dizziness. The most common side effects of taking VYLDA P TABLET are headache, dizziness, joint pain, impotence, back pain, shortness of breath or flatulence. Contact your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    How VYLDA P TABLET Works

    How to use VYLDA P TABLET

    Take VYLDA P TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow VYLDA P TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking VYLDA P TABLET without informing your doctor.  

    Side Effects Of VYLDA P TABLET

    Common

    • decreased blood sugar (hypoglycaemia)
    • headache
    • dizziness
    • joint pain
    • impotence
    • back pain
    • shortness of breath
    • small reduction in red blood cell count
    • flatulence
    • respiratory infection
    • abnormal vision
    • weight gain
    • numbness

    Uncommon

    • inflammation of the sinuses (sinusitis)
    • difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
    • sugar and proteins in urine
    • increase in enzymes
    • spinning sensation (vertigo)
    • sweating
    • tiredness
    • increased appetite

    Stop taking VYLDA P TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • shortness of breath or rapid increase in weight or localised swelling (oedema)
    • blood in your urine, pain when urinating or a sudden need to urinate
    • blurred vision
    • swollen face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, difficulties breathing, sudden onset rash or hives, which may indicate a reaction called (angioedema)
    • yellow skin and eyes, nausea, loss of appetite or dark-coloured urine, which may indicate liver disease (hepatitis)
    • severe and persistent pain in the abdomen (stomach area), which might reach through to your back, as well as nausea and vomiting

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Lie down until dizziness is gone, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol and drugs. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.  

    Headache

    Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.

    Hypoglycemia

    Eat or drink 15 to 20 grams of fast-acting carbohydrates. These are sugary foods or drinks without protein or fat that are easily converted to sugar in the body. Have a snack or meal.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily, fried, and spicy foods. Do not perform any strenuous activities immediately after eating. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    Contraindicated

    VYLDA P TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking VYLDA P TABLET if you are planning to become pregnant.

    Breastfeeding

    Contraindicated

    VYLDA P TABLET should not be taken during breastfeeding as it may pass through breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking VYLDA P TABLET for advice.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Contraindicated

    Do not drive or handle any machines if you experience dizziness or abnormal vision while taking VYLDA P TABLET.

    Kidney

    Use with Caution

    VYLDA P TABLET should be used with caution in patients with moderate or severe kidney disease or if you are on dialysis. Consult your doctor before taking VYLDA P TABLET.

    Liver

    Consult your doctor

    VYLDA P TABLET is not recommended if you have severe liver disease and it should be used with caution in patients with acute liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking VYLDA P TABLET.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take VYLDA P TABLET if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Pioglitazone or Vildagliptin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    Consult your doctor

    VYLDA P TABLET is not recommended if you had heart failure and it should be used with caution in patients with acute heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking VYLDA P TABLET.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Contraindicated

    VYLDA P TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (under 18 years of age). Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Use In Geriatrics

    Use with Caution

    VYLDA P TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.

    Others

    VYLDA P TABLET is not recommended for use, if you have:

    • diabetic ketoacidosis
    • or ever had abnormal growth cells in the bladder
    • blood in the urine

    Before taking VYLDA P TABLET inform your doctor if you have:

    • or had a disease of the pancreas
    • type 1 diabetes mellitus
    • retain water (fluid retention)
    • macular oedema (swelling of the back of the eye)
    • polycystic ovary syndrome (women)

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking VYLDA P TABLET inform to your doctor if you are taking any of these medicines:

    • gemfibrozil (used to lower cholesterol)
    • rifampicin (used to manage tuberculosis and other infections)
    • thiazides or other diuretics
    • corticosteroids (used for inflammation)
    • thyroid medicines
    • medicines affecting the nervous system

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else take too much of VYLDA P TABLET, contact your doctor immediately or go to a nearest hospital straight away. Symptoms of VYLDA P TABLET include blood sugar could fall below the normal level and can be increased by taking sugar. It is recommended that you carry some sugar lumps, sweets, biscuits or sugary fruit juice.
