    Introduction About VOMISHUNT INJECTION

    VOMISHUNT INJECTION is used to provide relief from sensation of nausea and vomiting. It contains a medicine called Ondansetron which is an anti-emetic medicine. It reduces the nausea and vomiting sensation by blocking the vomiting centres of the brain.

    Before receiving VOMISHUNT INJECTION, inform your doctor if you have severe constipation, heart or liver problems, imbalance with the levels of salts in the blood, such as potassium, sodium and magnesium or if you have been scheduled for any surgery.

    Consult your doctor before taking VOMISHUNT INJECTION if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as a precaution.

    The most common side effects of receiving VOMISHUNT INJECTION includes headache, flushing and constipation. Consult your doctor if any of these above symptoms gets worse.

    How VOMISHUNT INJECTION Works

    VOMISHUNT INJECTION is anti-emetic medicine which works by blocking the action of serotonin, a natural substance in the body that can trigger nausea and vomiting. Specifically, it targets the 5-HT3 receptors in the brain and the gastrointestinal tract. By inhibiting these receptors, ondansetron effectively reduces the signals that lead to nausea and vomiting, providing relief to patients undergoing treatments that can induce these symptoms.

    How to use VOMISHUNT INJECTION

    • VOMISHUNT INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse, into a vein as an intravenous infusion, or into the muscles as intramuscular injection
    • Your doctor will administer the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition

    Side Effects Of VOMISHUNT INJECTION

    Common Side Effects of VOMISHUNT INJECTION:

    • headache
    • flushing (feeling of warmth)
    • constipation
    • Dizziness
    • Diarrhea
    • fits (seizures)
    • irregular heartbeat (fast or slow)
    • low blood pressure
    • hiccups

    Stop receiving VOMISHUNT INJECTION and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:       

    • sudden wheezing, chest pain or tightness
    • swelling of eyelids, face, lips, mouth or tongue
    • skin rash, red spots or lumps under your skin (hives) or anywhere on the body

    Breastfeeding

    Limited data is available on the use of ondansetron during breastfeeding. While no harmful effects have been reported in breastfed infants, ondansetron is excreted in breast milk. Therefore, breastfeeding mothers should consult a doctor before using this medicine to ensure its safety for their baby.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or uneasy after receiving VOMISHUNT INJECTION.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    VOMISHUNT INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before receiving VOMISHUNT INJECTION.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take VOMISHUNT INJECTION if you are allergic to ondansetron, granisetron or palonosetron or to any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    Use with Caution

    VOMISHUNT INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases such as uneven heartbeats (arrhythmias) or congestive heart failure.

    VOMISHUNT INJECTION can be used in children if prescribed by the physician.

    Use In Geriatrics

    VOMISHUNT INJECTION can be used in elderly patients if prescribed by the physician.

    Others

    • have a blockage in your gut
    • have constipation
    • have problems with the levels of salts in the blood (such as potassium, sodium and magnesium)
    • are intolerant to some sugars (Ex. lactose intolerance)

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before receiving VOMISHUNT INJECTION, inform your doctor, if you are receiving any of the following medicine:

    • apomorphine (used to manage Parkinson’s disease)
    • Antiepileptics (Ex. phenytoin, carbamazepine)
    • Anti-TB agent (Ex. rifampicin)
    • Pain killers (such as tramadol, methadone)
    • Antipsychotic agents (Ex. haloperidol)
    • Cardiac agents (Ex. amiodarone) and/or high blood pressure (Ex. atenolol, timolol)
    • cancer medicines (Ex. doxorubicin, daunorubicin, monoclonal, trastuzumab) 
    • Antibiotics (such as erythromycin, ketoconazole)
    • Antidepressants, Sedatives, Anxiolytics (ex. fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline, fluvoxamine, citalopram, venlafaxine, duloxetine escitalopram)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of VOMISHUNT INJECTION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
