    Introduction About VISCO TABLET

    VISCO TABLET is a combination of Alginic acid, Aluminium hydroxide, Magnesium and Simethicone which belongs to the group of medicines called Antacids, Gastrointestinal agents and Saline laxatives respectively. It is used for the management of acidity, indigestion, heart burn, excess gas and stomach ulcer. Stomach ulcer is a condition in which painful area develops in the inner lining of stomach, small intestine, and oesophagus.

    VISCO TABLET is not recommended for use in children and in patients suffering from kidney diseases, heart disease such as slower heart rate (bradycardia), low levels of phosphate in blood. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.

    Before taking VISCO TABLET inform your doctor if you are pregnant, breast feeding, having diabetes, blood disorder (porphyria) and fructose intolerance. Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine. The most common side effects of taking VISCO TABLET includes nausea, vomiting, constipation. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    Uses Of VISCO TABLET

    It is used to manage:

    • acidity
    • indigestion, bloating
    • heartburn
    • stomach pain due to excess gas
    • excess gas
    • stomach ulcer

    How VISCO TABLET Works

    VISCO TABLET is a combination of Alginic acid, Aluminium hydroxide, Magnesium and Simethicone. Aluminium hydroxide and Magnesium lowers the amount of acid present in stomach by neutralizing excess stomach acid produced due to indigestion. Alginic acid relieves heartburn by decreasing the chances of backward flow of liquid from stomach into oesophagus after eating (postprandial upright gastroesophageal reflex) in upright position. Simethicone relieves bloating and stomach pain due to excess gas by blocking foam, breaks out gas bubbles in gut and removing gas from stomach. Antacids has viscoelastic features like gastric mucin and may afford mucosal protection by its ability to maintain or mimic the barrier properties of gastric mucus, thus it helps in management of peptic ulcer.

    How to use VISCO TABLET

    Take VISCO TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of VISCO TABLET

    Common

    • loose stools

    Rare

    • increased levels of magnesium in blood

    Stop taking VISCO TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following side effects:

    • swelling of face, lips, mouth, and throat with difficulty in breathing and swallowing (symptoms of severe allergic reactions)
    • increased heart rate, fall in blood pressure, over sweating, difficulty to rise, (symptoms of anaphylactic shock)
    • severe diarrhoea

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Drink plenty of fluids. Include fiber rich food and fruits in your diet. Avoid taking alcohol. Try to involve in regular physical activity. Consult your doctor if symptoms gets worsened.

    Diarrhea

    Drink plenty of fluids. Add a low fibre diet. Take ORS if required. Consult doctor before starting any medication.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    VISCO TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases. Consult your doctor before taking VISCO TABLET.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take VISCO TABLET if you are allergic to Alginic acid, Aluminum hydroxide, Magnesium, Simethicone. Consult your doctor before taking VISCO TABLET.

    Heart Disease

    Contraindicated

    VISCO TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases that slows heart rate (bradycardia). Consult your doctor before taking VISCO TABLET.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Contraindicated

    VISCO TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents. Consult your doctor before taking VISCO TABLET.

    Others

    VISCO TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have low levels of phosphate in blood

    Before taking VISCO TABLET inform your doctor if you:

    • have diabetes
    • have blood disorders(porphyria)
    • have hereditary fructose intolerance
    • are on a low sodium diet

    • medicines used to manage malaria (Ex. chloroquine)
    • medicines used to manage tuberculosis (Ex. isoniazid, ethambutol)
    • medicines used to manage fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole)
    • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. levofloxacin, ofloxacin, tetracyclines, cefpodoxime, cefdinir, gentamicin, ciprofloxacin)
    • medicines used to manage transplant rejection (Ex. cyclosporine)
    • medicines used to manage viral infections (Ex. raltegravir, olutegravir, tefenovir)
    • medicines used to manage bone and joint disorders (Ex. risedronate, ibandronate, penicillamine)

    • medicines used to manage high cholesterol (Ex. rosuvastatin)

    • medicines used to manage kidney disorders (Ex. potassium citrate)
    • medicines used to manage psychosis (Ex. phenothiazines, chlorpromazine)
    • medicines used to manage high amount of potassium (polysterene sulfonate)
    • medicine used to whiten teeth (Ex. sodium fluoride)
    • medicines used to manage cancer (Ex. nilotinib, dasatinib, cisplatin)
    • medicines used to manage anaemia (Ex. iron salts)
    • medicines used to manage some allergic, inflammatory, or abnormal immune reactions (Ex. betamethasone, prednisolone)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms pf overdose includes stomach pain, diarrhea, bloating, digestive problems, vomiting, heartburn, stomach upset, constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite.
