    Introduction About VERISPAS MF TABLET

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is a combination of Drotaverine and Mefenamic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-spasmodic agents and Non-Steroidal Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to manage pain in the stomach, intestine, urinary tract and pain due to irritable bowel syndrome, pain due to gall stones or kidney stones or liver and kidney disease, pain after surgery or child birth, painful periods (dysmenorrhea), heavy bleeding during periods (menorrhagia). It is also used for fever, muscle pain, inflammation and migraine headache.

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney, liver or heart diseases and asthma. Contact your doctor before taking.

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnancy. Contact your doctor before taking. VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in breast feeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking.

    VERISPAS MF TABLET should be used with caution in children. Contact your doctor before taking. VERISPAS MF TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients aged 65 years or above. Contact your doctor before taking.

    The most common side effects of this medicine are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, constipation, dry mouth, lack of appetite, feeling thirsty and heartburn, dizziness and sleepiness. Contact your doctor if any of the above symptoms worsen.

    Uses Of VERISPAS MF TABLET

    Used to manage:

    • muscle pain
    • migraine headache
    • functional bowel disorders
    • fever
    • heavy bleeding during periods
    • abdominal pain
    • pain after surgery
    • pain in renal colic
    • pain during periods

    How VERISPAS MF TABLET Works

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is a combination of two medicines, Drotaverine and Mefenamic acid, which relieves abdominal pain and cramps. Drotaverine relieves contractions (spasms) associated with smooth muscles in the abdomen. Mefenamic acid works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause abdominal pain and inflammation (swelling).

    How to use VERISPAS MF TABLET

    Take VERISPAS MF TABLET as advised by your physician.

    For Tablet: Swallow VERISPAS MF TABLET with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

    For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse VERISPAS MF TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Consume the mixture immediately after reconstitution.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take VERISPAS MF TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.

    Side Effects Of VERISPAS MF TABLET

    Common

    Rare

    Stop taking VERISPAS MF TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • appearance of blood clots in the body
    • allergic reactions such as swelling of face and lips causing difficulty in breathing
    • skin discolouration on the face or neck

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Do not consume alcohol. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.

    Diarrhoea:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep you hydrated. Do not take any medicine on your own for managing diarrhea. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Eat small meals but take frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Dizziness:

    Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Itchy skin:

    Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Breastfeeding

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizziness or sleepiness after taking [GBNEYWORD].

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking VERISPAS MF TABLET as it increases the risk of stomach bleeding.

    Kidney

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Allergy

    Do not take VERISPAS MF TABLET if you are allergic to Drotaverine, Mefenamic acid or to any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with lung diseases such as asthma. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Heart Disease

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe heart diseases. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Others

    VERISPAS MF TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:

    • peptic ulcers
    • porphyria
    • active bleeding disorders
    • to undergo surgery
    • bedridden for a long time or immobility
    • depression
    • diabetes

    Use in geriatrics:

    VERISPAS MF TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Contact your doctor before taking.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking VERISPAS MF TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking the following medicines:

    • analgesics (medicines used for pain Ex. diclofenac, celecoxib)
    • medicines used to manage diabetes mellitus (Ex. glipizide, glibenclamide)
    • atropine (medicine used to manage bradycardia and used during eye examination)
    • alprazolam, clobazam, diazepam (medicines used to manage seizures, anxiety and insomnia)
    • medicine used to manage high blood pressure (Ex. captopril)
    • cyclosporine (medicines acting on the immune system)
    • medicine used to manage Parkinson’s disease (Ex. levodopa)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdose are nausea, vomiting, severe stomach pain, tiredness, coffee ground-like vomit, dark stool, ringing in the ears, change in amount of urine, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, difficulty in breathing, confusion and severe headache.
