    Introduction About VENTIREX A TABLET

    VENTIREX A TABLET is a combination of Ambroxol, and N-Acetylcysteine which belongs to the group of medicines called Mucolytics. It is used to manage or manage symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases (COPD), such as coughing, shortness of breath or wheezing, tracheobronchitis (inflammation of airways (trachea and bronchi)), emphysema with bronchitis pneumoconiosis, and chronic inflammatory pulmonary conditions.

    It also manages bronchiectasis (widening of airways of lungs), and bronchitis with bronchospasm asthma (tightening of the muscles of the bronchi causing shortness of breath), acute exacerbations of bronchitis and cystic fibrosis (an inherited disorder characterised by build-up of thick mucus in lungs).

    VENTIREX A TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma, history of bronchospasm, bronchial motor activity disorder along with a large production of secretion, severe liver disease, moderate to severe kidney, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, peptic ulcers, bleeding problems, undergoing any surgeries, epilepsy (convulsions).

    VENTIREX A TABLET should be used in pregnancy only when it is clearly needed. Contact your doctor before taking it. VENTIREX A TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk.

    VENTIREX A TABLET is not recommended for use in children under the age of 6 years. The most common side effects of taking VENTIREX A TABLET are nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, diarrhea or constipation. Contact your doctor if symptoms do not improve.

    How VENTIREX A TABLET Works

    VENTIREX A TABLET works by reducing the viscosity (thickness and stickiness) of the mucus (sputum) in the airways and makes it easier to expel (cough it out). Thus, it helps to breathe easily.

    How to use VENTIREX A TABLET

    Take VENTIREX A TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the whole medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Depending on your age, body weight, disease condition, your doctor will fix the correct dose and duration for you.

    Side Effects Of VENTIREX A TABLET

    Common

    • diarrhea
    • nausea, vomiting
    • stomach upset
    • constipation

    Rare

    • rashes
    • fever
    • headache
    • drowsiness
    • low blood pressure
    • liver problems

    Stop taking VENTIREX A TABLET and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • serious allergic reactions such as rashes, hives, with or without fever, itching, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, tongue, and throat causing difficulty in breathing and swallowing and lesions on the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, and genitals

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Eat fiber-rich food. Eat and exercise regularly. Contact your doctor if it persists.

    Diarrhea

    Drink plenty of water and fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Contact your doctor if the diarrhoea did not improve.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. If the nausea and vomiting does not improve, consult your doctor.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take VENTIREX A TABLET if you are allergic to ambroxol or N-Acetylcysteine or to other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    Use with Caution

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking VENTIREX A TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • antibiotics (Ex. amoxicillin, cefuroxime, erythromycin, chloramphenicol, clarithromycin, demeclocycline, doxycycline, minocycline, tetracycline, vancomycin (medicines used for bacterial infection)
    • antitussives like codeine (used to manage cough)
    • nitroglycerin (medicine used to manage angina)
    • activated charcoal (used to manage poisoning)
    • chloroquine (medicine used to manage malaria)
    • medications used for high blood pressure (Antihypertensive drugs) such as captopril, enalapril, lisinopril, ramipril, losartan, valsartan, diltiazem, amlodipine, hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide etc
    • medications used to manage blood clotting (anticoagulant / antiplatelet drugs) such as aspirin, clopidogrel, dalteparin, enoxaparin, heparin, warfarin, etc. 
    • diclofenac, ibuprofen, naproxen (medicines used to reduce pain)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of VENTIREX A TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, allergic reactions, excessive salivary flow, retching, vomiting, and low blood pressure, restlessness, and diarrhoea.
