    Description

The Bionote Vcheck SDMA Test Kit is an in-vitro diagnostic tool for veterinary professionals to quantitatively measure Symmetric Dimethylarginine (SDMA) in canine and feline serum or plasma. This test aids in the early detection of kidney disease, including both acute kidney injury (AKI) and chronic kidney disease (CKD). SDMA is considered a more reliable biomarker for kidney function than creatinine as it is not influenced by lean body mass and its levels rise earlier during renal disease.

Early Detection Marker: The test measures SDMA, a biomarker that can indicate a decline in kidney function earlier than traditional markers like creatinine.
Quantitative Measurement: Provides a specific numerical measurement of SDMA concentration in a pet's serum or plasma, allowing for precise monitoring.
For Canine and Feline Use: Specifically designed for the diagnosis and monitoring of kidney health in both dogs and cats.
Professional In-Clinic Use: Intended for use by veterinarians with the Bionote Vcheck analyzer for in-house testing and analysis.
Comprehensive Application: Useful for regular health screenings, diagnosing AKI and CKD, staging chronic kidney disease, and monitoring treatment progress.

Q: What is the Bionote Vcheck SDMA Test Kit used for?

A: This is an in-vitro diagnostic test kit for the quantitative measurement of Symmetric Dimethylarginine (SDMA) in dog and cat serum or plasma. It is designed for the early detection of kidney disease.

    Q: What does SDMA indicate?

A: SDMA, or Symmetric Dimethylarginine, is a biomarker for kidney function. An elevated SDMA concentration can indicate a decline in the kidney's ability to filter waste, serving as an early marker for conditions like acute and chronic kidney disease.

Q: Can I use this test kit on my pet at home?

A: No, this test kit is intended for professional veterinary use only. The procedure requires specific laboratory equipment, such as a centrifuge and the Vcheck analyzer, and the results must be interpreted by a qualified veterinarian.

Q: Which animals can be tested with this kit?

A: The Bionote Vcheck SDMA Test Kit is specified for use with canines (dogs) and felines (cats).

Q: How does this test compare to a creatinine (CREA) test?

A: SDMA is considered a more sensitive marker for early detection of kidney function decline than creatinine. It can indicate a potential issue when there is a 25-40% loss of kidney function, whereas creatinine levels may not rise until the loss is around 75%. Unlike creatinine, SDMA is also less influenced by the animal's lean body mass.

    Key Benefits

Facilitates early identification of renal dysfunction in cats and dogs, even with as little as a 25-40% loss of kidney function.
Allows for timely intervention and management of kidney disease, which may improve the pet's prognosis.
Provides a more specific indicator of kidney health compared to creatinine because it is not affected by the animal's muscle mass.
Aids veterinarians in staging chronic kidney disease and monitoring the animal's response to treatment over time.
Offers a reliable in-clinic method for regular screening of renal health, particularly in senior pets or those on certain long-term medications.

    Direction for Use/Dosage

This test is for veterinary professional use only and requires a Bionote Vcheck analyzer.
Allow all kit components to reach room temperature (15–30?) for about 30 minutes before use.
Using a pipette, add 100 µl of the serum or plasma sample to a 1.5 ml tube.
Add 25 µl of the Pretreatment Buffer to the same tube.
Mix well using a vortex mixer or by tapping with fingers 6-8 times until a white sediment forms.
Centrifuge the mixture at 6,000 x g for 5 minutes (or 10,000 RPM for 5 min. with the Bionote-provided centrifuge).
Collect 50 µl of the separated supernatant and transfer it to a new 1.5 ml tube, being careful not to disturb the sediment.
Add 50 µl of the assay diluent to the new tube containing the supernatant and mix thoroughly.
Using a disposable tablet pipette, mix until the white tablet inside dissolves completely.
Load the entire mixed sample into the sample hole of the test device and press [START] on the analyzer.

    Safety Information/Precaution

For veterinary in-vitro diagnostic use only.
All samples should be handled as potentially infectious; wear protective gloves and wash hands thoroughly after handling.
Do not use the test kit if it is past its expiration date or if the packaging is damaged.
Use the specified sample types (canine or feline serum/heparinized plasma) to avoid invalid results.
Severely hemolyzed or hyperlipidemic samples may affect test results and should not be used.
Decontaminate and dispose of all used samples, kits, and potentially contaminated materials according to local regulations for biomedical waste.
A final diagnosis should be made by a professional veterinarian in conjunction with other clinical findings and test results.
