    Introduction About VALERA TABLET

    VALERA TABLET contains Evogliptin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-diabetic agents. It is used to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control, when used as a monotherapy or in combination with metformin.

    VALERA TABLET is not recommended for severe ketosis, diabetic come or pre-coma or type 1 diabetes. Before taking VALERA TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, heart problems or history of pancreatitis. VALERA TABLET is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    The most common side effects of taking VALERA TABLET are hypoglycemia, stomach pain, indigestion, common cold, pain, diarrhoea and itching. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsens or persists for a longer duration.

    Uses Of VALERA TABLET

    • It is used for type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control, when used as a monotherapy or in combination with metformin

    How VALERA TABLET Works

    Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is secreted from alimentary canal in response to meal that promotes insulin secretion from pancreas and regulates blood sugar post meal by controlling glucagon secretion. VALERA TABLET exhibits a hypoglycemic effect by controlling the decomposition of GLP-1 by inhibiting dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) activity and thereby increasing blood concentration of active form GLP-1.

    How to use VALERA TABLET

    Take VALERA TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Hypoglycemia

    Eat or drink 15 to 20 grams of fast-acting carbohydrates. These are sugary foods or drinks without protein or fat that are easily converted to sugar in the body. Have a snack or meal.

    Stomach Pain

    Try putting a heating pad or hot towel on your abdomen. The heat can help relax the muscles and relieve cramping. Taking a hot shower or bath with salt may also help.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Use with Caution

    Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you experience hypoglycemia after taking VALERA TABLET.

    Kidney

    VALERA TABLET is not recommended for patients with end stage renal impairment requiring dialysis. It should be used with caution in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    VALERA TABLET should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take VALERA TABLET if you are allergic or hypersensitive to Evogliptin or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    Consult your doctor

    VALERA TABLET is not recommended to patients with functional class II-IV due to absence of clinical experience. It should be used with caution in patients with functional class 1 heart failure. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Use In Geriatrics

    Use with Caution

    VALERA TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Consult your doctor for advice before taking the medicine.

    VALERA TABLET is contraindicated if you:

    • have severe ketosis
    • have diabetic come or pre-coma
    • have type 1 diabetes

    Before taking VALERA TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have a history of pancreatitis

    • other medicines used for diabetes mellitus (such as insulin or metformin)
    • clarithromycin, rifampicin (used to manage infection)

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more VALERA TABLET consult your doctor immediately or nearby hospital.
