Introduction About URINAT
URINAT contains Tamsulosin which belongs to the group of medicines called Alpha blockers. It is used in men to manage the signs and symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH).
BPH (also known enlarged prostate) is an abnormal growth or enlargement of prostate gland in aging men. It is caused primarily due to increased production of a stress hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Symptoms includes difficulty in passing urine, urinary incontinence (unintentional passing of urine), frequent urination at night, sexual dysfunction or painful ejaculation.
During management with URINAT, your doctor will constantly monitor your blood pressure and PSA levels (prostate specific antigen) to avoid the risk of unwanted side effects.
Before taking URINAT inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have cataract or glaucoma surgery in the upcoming days.
URINAT may make you feel dizzy while standing up or changing position. Therefore, do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines that requires complete alertness. Avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages as it may make you dizzier. If you experience dizziness, sit and rest until it passes away completely.
Other most common side effects of taking URINAT are decrease in sex drive or ejaculation problems. These side effects are usually temporary and disappears once the therapy is stopped. However, consult your doctor if they trouble you.
Also, inform your doctor if you any experience any prolonged, painful erections (priapism) or severe dizziness after taking URINAT.
Uses Of URINAT
Manages signs and symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia such as:
- difficulty in passing urine
- urinary incontinence
- frequent urination at night
How URINAT Works
URINAT is an alpha blocker. It blocks the activity of certain chemicals (noradrenaline) in the body that causes contraction of smooth muscles. As a result, it relaxes the smooth muscles surrounding the bladder and prostate gland. This action improves urine flow and reduces other urinary symptoms associated with BPH.
How to use URINAT
Take URINAT preferably before the first meal of the day (breakfast) or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking URINAT without consulting your doctor.
Side Effects Of URINAT
Common
- feeling dizzy or faint while changing position
- problems with ejaculation
- cloudy urine
- impotence, decrease in sex drive
Uncommon
- headache
- rapid heartbeat
- allergic symptoms (itching of the nose)
- nausea, vomiting
- diarrhoea
- constipation

Rare
Stop taking URINAT and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- priapism (persistent painful penile erection unrelated to sexual activity)
- severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash with redness and lumps, swelling of the face, eyelids, lips, mouth and tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- severe dizziness

URINAT is not intended for use in women.
Breastfeeding
URINAT is not intended for use in women.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience dizziness or light-headedness after taking URINAT.
Alcohol
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with URINAT.
Kidney
URINAT should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
URINAT is not recommended for use in patients with sever liver infection. It should be used with caution in patients with mild to moderate liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Allergy
Do not take URINAT if you are allergic to Tamsulosin.
Others
URINAT is not recommended for use if you:
- have orthostatic hypotension (feeling dizzy while standing up)
- feel weak or tired after passing urine (micturition syncope)
- have prostate cancer
Before taking URINAT inform your doctor if you:
- are planning for cataract or glaucoma surgery in the upcoming days
Use in Pediatrics:
URINAT is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Use in Geriatrics:
URINAT should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking URINAT inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- diclofenac (a pain killer)
- warfarin (a medicine used to manage blood clotting)
- other medicines used to manage BPH (such as silodosin)
- ketoconazole (a medicine used to manage fungal infection)
- erythromycin (a medicine used to manage bacterial infection)
- medicines used to manage erectile dysfunction (Ex. tadalafil, sildenafil)
- cimetidine (a medicine used to manage stomach ulcers)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more URINAT, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms of overdosage might include decrease in blood pressure, which is characterized by symptoms such as dizziness, fainting, nausea, lack of concentration or blurred vision.

Can the use of URINAT make me feel dizzy?

Who should not take URINAT?

Can I stop taking URINAT once my symptoms subside?
Do not stop taking URINAT without consulting your doctor. Make sure to take this medicine for the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor to achieve maximum results.
