Introduction About URIKIND TABLET

Urikind Tablet (Flavoxate) is a urinary-tract antispasmodic used to help relieve urinary symptoms caused by bladder or urinary-tract muscle spasms. It may be useful for patients experiencing frequent urination, an urgent need to urinate, painful urination (dysuria), nighttime urination (nocturia), suprapubic discomfort or urinary incontinence, including symptoms associated with conditions such as cystitis, prostatitis and urethritis. Flavoxate works by relaxing smooth muscle in the urinary tract, thereby helping reduce bladder spasm and associated urinary discomfort. Importantly, it is intended for symptomatic relief and is not an antibiotic or a definitive treatment for an underlying urinary infection.

Urikind is therefore most appropriate, under medical supervision, for adults and adolescents over 12 years who have bothersome urinary urgency, frequency, painful urination or bladder-spasm-related symptoms. Flavoxate may be taken with or without food; taking it with food may help reduce stomach discomfort. Tablets should be swallowed as directed rather than crushed or chewed. If a dose is missed, it should generally be taken when remembered unless it is nearly time for the next dose (double dose of the medicine should not be taken).

Before using Urikind, patients should inform their doctor about glaucoma, urinary obstruction, intestinal obstruction or ileus, gastrointestinal problems, allergies and all other medicines or supplements being taken. Flavoxate is contraindicated in certain obstructive conditions, including obstructive disease of the lower urinary tract, and should be used cautiously in patients with suspected glaucoma. It can cause drowsiness, dizziness or blurred vision, so patients should avoid driving, operating machinery or other activities requiring alertness until they know how medicine affects them; alcohol may further increase drowsiness. Commonly reported adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach upset, dry mouth, headache, dizziness/vertigo, drowsiness and blurred vision.

Urikind should be used during pregnancy only when clearly needed and when the expected benefit has been assessed by a healthcare professional. Animal reproductive studies did not demonstrate fetal harm at doses substantially above the human dose, but adequate controlled studies in pregnant women are lacking, so animal findings cannot establish safety in human pregnancy. It is also not known whether flavoxate passes into human breast milk, and caution is therefore advised in breastfeeding women; the prescriber should weigh the need for treatment against potential risk to the infant. Urikind should be used strictly according to medical advice, particularly in pregnant or breastfeeding patients, older adults, and patients with glaucoma or urinary/intestinal obstruction.

How to use URIKIND TABLET

How to take Urikind Tablet

• Take Urikind Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew it unless advised otherwise.
• Take the medicine at the recommended time and maintain a consistent dosing schedule.
• Do not take more than the prescribed dose, even if your symptoms do not improve immediately.
• If you miss a dose, take it when you remember unless it is nearly time for your next dose. Do not double the dose.
• Complete the prescribed duration of treatment and consult your doctor if your urinary symptoms persist or worsen.

What if I forgot to take URIKIND TABLET

If you forget to take Urikind Tablet, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

If you have taken more than the prescribed dose of Urikind Tablet, consult your doctor or seek medical attention promptly. An overdose may increase the risk of side effects such as dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, or difficulty passing urine. Do not take any additional dose until you have received appropriate medical advice.

Constipation

• Do not ignore the urge to pass stools.
• Maintain a regular toilet routine and allow enough time for bowel movements.
• Consult your doctor if constipation persists, becomes severe, or is accompanied by significant abdominal pain.

Headache

• Drink adequate water throughout the day to maintain hydration.
• Get sufficient rest and avoid excessive physical or mental strain.
• Maintain regular meals and avoid skipping them.
• Reduce exposure to bright lights or loud sounds if they worsen the headache.
• Get adequate sleep and maintain a regular sleep routine.
• Consult your doctor if the headache is severe, persistent, or keeps recurring.

 

Nausea And Vomiting

• Take the medicine with food if advised by your doctor.
• Eat smaller meals at regular intervals instead of large meals.
• Avoid spicy, oily, or very heavy foods until the symptoms improve.
• Sip water or other suitable fluids frequently to prevent dehydration.

Allergy

Who should not take URIKIND TABLET

Urikind Tablet is not recommended for use if you

• have any block or obstruction in the gut
• have bleeding in your digestive tract
• have achalasia (muscular inability to swallow)
• have urinary retention (not able to completely empty your bladder)
• have glaucoma
• have myasthenia gravis (a disease which causes general weakness and overtiredness of the muscles)

• Take Urikind Tablet only in the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.
• Do not increase, decrease, or stop the prescribed dose without consulting your doctor.

Drug - Drug interaction

1. Anticholinergic Medicines

• Interaction: Medicines with anticholinergic properties, such as certain antihistamines, antispasmodics, antidepressants, and muscle relaxants, may interact with Urikind Tablet (flavoxate).
