    Introduction About TRISOPT OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

    TRISOPT Eye drops is used to reduce pressure in the eye in the conditions of Glaucoma and Ocular hypertension. TRISOPT Eye drops is a combination of Brimonidine, Brinzolamide and Timolol which belong to the group of medicines known as Anti-glaucoma agents which works by lowering the pressure in the eye.

    TRISOPT Eye drops is not recommended in patients with kidney problems, heart disorders, hyperchloraemic acidosis and bronchial asthma. TRISOPT Eye drops should be used with caution in patients with liver disease, raynaud's disease or Raynaud's syndrome, Hypoglycemia/diabetes or myasthenia gravis. TRISOPT Eye drops is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women.

    Safety and efficacy is not established in children. Hence consult your doctor before using the medicine. The most common side effects of TRISOPT Eye drops are temporary blurred vision, bitter or sour taste, headaches or dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

    How TRISOPT OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION Works

    TRISOPT Eye drops is a combination of Brimonidine, Brinzolamide and Timolol. Brimonidine works by cutting down the production of liquid, which lowers the pressure in the eye. Brinzolamide works by reducing pressure within the eyeball. Timolol works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure.

    How to use TRISOPT OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

    Always use TRISOPT Eye drops as advised by your physician. It is for Ophthalmic use only. Shake the bottle before using TRISOPT Eye drops. Hold the bottle, pointing down, between your thumb and middle finger. Tilt your head back. Pull down your eyelid with a clean finger, until there is a pocket between the eyelid and your eye and instill the eye drop. Do not touch the eye or eyelid, surrounding areas or other surfaces with the dropper.

    Side Effects Of TRISOPT OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION

    Common

    • temporary blurred vision
    • bitter or sour taste
    • headache
    • an allergic reaction in the eye causing eye redness, burning, stinging, follicles or white spots on the membrane covering the inside of the eyelid/white of the eye
    • a feeling of something in the eye or itching
    • tiredness, drowsiness
    • eye pain
    • dry mouth
    • erosion on the surface of the eye and staining, swollen or red eyelid
    • sticky, weepy or watery eyes, sensitivity to light, irritation, pain, whitening of the membrane covering the inside of the eyelid/white of the eye

    Uncommon

    • discharge, pain, itching, inflammation of or damage to the eyeball surface
    • inflammation or crusting on the eyelids
    • increased tear production
    • abnormal vision
    • flashes of light
    • deposit on the surface of the eye
    • upset stomach, feeling sick
    • heartburn, breathlessness
    • chest pain
    • sore throat
    • nasal or sinus problems including runny nose or nose bleeds
    • bleeding in mouth
    • numbness or tingling sensation in fingers and toes
    • dizziness
    • palpitations or changes in heart rate
    • dry nose or general allergic reactions

    Rare

    • shortness of breath

    Stop using TRISOPT Eye drops and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, swelling of the lips, tongue, or face or hives

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Sit or lie down when you feel dizzy and rest until the dizziness goes away. This can manage the possibility of losing your balance, avoid caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco, they may trigger dizziness or make it worse.

    The effects of alcohol may be increased if you drink while using TRISOPT Eye drops.

    Kidney

    TRISOPT Eye drops is not recommended for patients with kidney problems. It should be used with caution in patients with kidney impairment. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine. 

    Liver

    TRISOPT Eye drops should be used with caution in patients with liver problems. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not use if you are allergic to Brimonidine, Brinzolamide and Timolol or any other ingredients of TRISOPT Eye drops.

    Lungs

    Contraindicated

    TRISOPT Eye drops is not recommended for use in patients with reactive airway disease including bronchial asthma or a history of bronchial asthma, severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Heart Disease

    Consult your doctor

    TRISOPT Eye drops is not recommended for use in patients with sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, sino-atrial block, second or third degree atrioventricular block, overt cardiac failure or cardiogenic shock. It should be used with caution in patients suffering from heart disease or heart problems. Consult your doctor before taking TRISOPT Eye drops.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Use In Geriatrics

    Others

    TRISOPT Eye drops is not recommended for use if you have:

    • hyperchloraemic acidosis (too much acidity in blood)

    Before taking TRISOPT Eye drops inform your doctor if you:

    • have dry eyes or cornea problems
    • wear contact lens
    • have depression
    • suffer from dizziness or light-headedness on standing up (due to a fall in blood pressure)
    • suffer from reduced mental capacity, reduced blood supply to the brain
    • suffer from blood vessel disease in the limbs, or from poor blood circulation which makes the fingers or toes numb and pale
    • have raynaud's disease or Raynaud's syndrome
    • have Hypoglycemia/diabetes
    • have myasthenia gravis

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking TRISOPT Eye drops, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • Sulphonamides (Ex. azulfidine)
    • Carbonic anhydrase inhibitor (Ex. acetazolamide or dorzolamide)
    • Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor
    • Tricyclic antidepressant
    • Sedative, barbiturate, opiates or hypnotic medicines
    • Antipsychotics (Ex. Chlorpromazine, methylphenidate or reserpine)
    • Alpha-blockers (Ex. Prazosin and isoprenaline)
    • Anaesthetics
    • CYP2D6 inhibitors (Ex. quinidine, fluoxetine, paroxetine)
    • Antiarrhythmics (Ex. amiodarone)
    • Calcium antagonists
    • Oral β-adrenergic blocking agents (Ex. Clonidine)

    Overdosage:

    If you accidentally get TRISOPT Eye drops, too much in your eyes, rinse it all out with warm water. Do not put in any more drops until it’s time for your next regular dose. Consult your doctor before using TRISOPT Eye drops.
