    Introduction About TRIPTOLOL TABLET

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is a combination of Amitriptyline and Propranolol which belongs to the group of medicines called Tricyclic antidepressants and Beta blockers respectively. It is used to manage migraine with co-morbid conditions like insomnia, neuralgic pain, hypertension, and anxiety.

    Migraine is a neurological condition characterized by intense, throbbing head pain and, typically, includes other physical symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light, sound, or smell.

    Insomnia is a common sleep disorder that can make it hard to fall asleep, hard to stay asleep, or cause you to wake up too early and not be able to get back to sleep.

    Neuropathic pain is caused by damage or injury to the nerves that transfer information between the brain and spinal cord from the skin, muscles, and other parts of the body.

    Hypertension is a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high.

    Anxiety is an emotion characterized by feelings of tension, worried thoughts, and physical changes like increased blood pressure.

    Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have any kidney or liver problems or heart problems or high blood pressure.

    Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine. The most common side effects are weight gain, dry mouth, blurred vision, constipation, drowsiness. Contact your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How TRIPTOLOL TABLET Works

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is a combination of Amitriptyline and Propranolol. Amitriptyline belongs to tricyclic antidepressant which stops the movement of pain signals from nerves to the brain thereby relieving pain. Propranolol widens the blood vessels in the body for better blood flow.  

    How to use TRIPTOLOL TABLET

    Take TRIPTOLOL TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water, do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of TRIPTOLOL TABLET

    Rare

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation:

    Eat fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Try to exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve on its own.

    Drowsiness:

    Get up and move around to feel awake. Take a nap to take the edge off sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue.

    Pregnancy

    There is no proper information regarding the use of TRIPTOLOL TABLET in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Breastfeeding

    There is no proper information regarding the use of TRIPTOLOL TABLET in breast feeding women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or use any machines if you experience mental alertness, and motor coordination after taking TRIPTOLOL TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with TRIPTOLOL TABLET. Because it may cause excessive drowsiness.

    Kidney

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET should be used with caution in patients with renal dysfunction. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Liver

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe hepatic dysfunction. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Allergy

    Do not take TRIPTOLOL TABLET if you are allergic to Amitriptyline, Propranolol or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with bronchial asthma. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with cardiogenic shock, sinus bradycardia and greater than first degree block. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Others

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have history of urinary retention

    Before taking TRIPTOLOL TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have angle-closure glaucoma
    • have phaeochromocytoma
    • have hyperthyroidism

    Use in pediatrics:

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET is not recommended for use in children. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

    Use in geriatrics:

    TRIPTOLOL TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.  

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking TRIPTOLOL TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • duloxetine, citalopram, fluoxetine, topiramate, tramadol, sertraline, cyclobenzaprine, and trazodone
    • pregabalin, levothyroxine, alprazolam
    • medicines used to manage irregular heartbeat, as well as other heart medications
    • disulfiram (used to help people with alcoholism avoid from drinking)
    • atropine, phenobarbital
    • warfarin (used for blood thinners)
    • bromocriptine
    • cimetidine, metoclopramide (used to manage heartburn/ulcer medication)
    • clonidine, labetalol (used to manage high blood pressure)
    • delavirdine (used to manage HIV infection)
    • diphenoxylate (used to manage diarrhoea)
    • imatinib and procarbazine (used for chemotherapy)
    • levodopa (used to manage Parkinson's disease)
    • donepezil, galantamine, tacrine (used to manage Alzheimer's)
    • medicines used to manage epilepsy and seizure
    • levothyroxine
    • antiarrhythmics medicine such as propafenone, amiodarone
    • quinidine
    • digitalis glycosides
    • calcium channel blockers

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of TRIPTOLOL TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
