    Introduction About TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET contains Trazodone which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-depressants. It is used to manage the symptoms of depression (major depressive episodes).  

    Major depressive episode is a mental health disorder which is characterised by persistent depressed mood or loss of interest in activities and it affects the way you feel, think and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems. It may affect normal day-to-day activities, and sometimes can make you feel as if life isn't worth living.

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having certain heart diseases, alcohol intoxication or intoxication with sleeping tablet. TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients having kidney, liver and heart disease, fits, enlarged prostate, raised eye pressure, problems with urination or schizophrenia. Your doctor may recommend you to take relevant tests periodically to check your pre-existing conditions         

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if clearly advised by the doctor. TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age) and it should be used with caution in elderly patients.  

    The common side effects of taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET are nervousness, dizziness, sleepiness, dry mouth, weight changes, constipation and stomach pain. Consult your doctor if the any of the side effect worsens.

    How TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET Works

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET works effectively in reducing the symptoms of depression by inhibiting the reuptake of a nerve chemical called serotonin (in depression, concentration of serotonin is low). This inhibition causes the increase in the concentration of serotonin thus, relieving the symptoms of depression.

    How to use TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET

    Always take TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will prescribe the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age and general health condition.

    Side Effects Of TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET

    Common

    • Nervousness
    • Dizziness, sleepiness
    • Dry mouth
    • Expressive aphasia (disorder of central nervous system in which the ability to use and understand words is affected)
    • Confusion, disorientation, agitation
    • Mania or aggressive outbursts, hallucination
    • Weight gain, anorexia (eating disorder with fear of gaining weight) and increased hunger
    • Vision changes like blurring, difficult to focus, increased pressure in the eye (glaucoma)
    • Irregular or fast heartbeat, palpitations (awareness of increased heart beats)
    • Dizziness while standing up suddenly (orthostatic hypotension), fainting, high blood pressure
    • Taste changes
    • Wind (flatulence), indigestion with feeling of fullness in the upper stomach, belching, nausea or vomiting, acid indigestion, inflammation of the stomach or small intestine (gastro-enteritis), constipation or diarrhoea, stomach pain
    •  Lumps or skin spots and itchiness
    • General weakness (asthenia), chest, back or limb pain
    • Sweating, hot flushes, swelling (oedema), influenza-like symptoms such as fever, cold
    • Ocular pruritus (such as itchiness and sore eyes)
    • Tinnitus (ringing sensation in ears), headache, tremor
    • Blocked, stuffy, sore nose (nasal/sinus congestion)

    Uncommon

    • Weight loss
    • Shortness of breath (dyspnoea)
    • Reduced sex drive

    Rare

    • Sudden muscle contractions (myoclonus)
    • Obstruction of bile flow which may lead to jaundice (yellowing of skin or white of the eyes) or disturbance of the liver function

    Stop taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • Allergic reactions (like itchiness, irritable skin lumps, skin rash, swelling of hands, face, or throat (edema), chest tightness, or breathing difficulties)
    • Priapism (prolonged and painful erection of the penis)
    • Sore throat, unexplained fever or flu like symptoms
    • Signs of severe liver disorders such as jaundice (yellowing of the eyes or skin), dark urine, back pain, weakness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain
    • Thoughts of harming or killing yourself
    • Worsening of psychotic symptoms such as delusion, hallucination, agitation or maniac phase (high energy, excitement, and euphoria over a sustained period of time)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Try to eat more high-fiber foods such as fresh fruit, vegetables, cereals, and drink plenty of water. Try doing exercise regularly (going for a daily walk or run). If this does not help, inform your doctor for receiving alternate management for constipation.

    Diarrhea

    Drink lot of fluids, such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat or spicy foods. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea and consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Lie down until dizziness is gone, then get up slowly. Move slowly and carefully, do not hurry. Get adequate rest. Drink plenty of water and other fluids. Avoid coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, and drugs. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Headache

    Drink ample amount of water and avoid skipping meals. Get adequate rest. Try to be relaxed and stress free. Apply pain relieving balm on your forehead if necessary. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take this medicine after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich, fried or spicy foods or sugary snacks. Try to drink liquid such as lemonade or water slowly. Ask for your doctor’s advice if nausea does not improve.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to take rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be with caution in pregnant women only if considered clearly necessary. When used during late stages of pregnancy it may cause withdrawal symptoms in the baby when they are born. Consult your doctor before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET.

    Breastfeeding

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women unless considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET.  

    Driving and Using Machines

    Use with Caution

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET can affect your ability to drive or use machines mildly or moderately. Do not drive or use machines while taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET if you feel drowsy, sedated (sleepy), dizzy, confused or there is a blurring of vision. Ask for your doctor’s advice if you want to drive or use machines after taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET.

    Kidney

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET.   

    Liver

    Use with Caution

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET. 

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET if you are allergic to Trazodone or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    Consult your doctor

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who recently had a recent heart attack. It should be used with caution in patients having heart disease (like cardiovascular insufficiency, conduction disorders or atrioventricular blocks of different degrees, angina pectoris (chest pain), arrhythmias (irregular heartbeat), congenital long QT syndrome or bradycardia (slow heart rate). Consult your doctor before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Contraindicated

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years of age). Consult child’s doctor for advice.

    Use In Geriatrics

    Use with Caution

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients due to increased risk of side effects especially when taking other medicines with TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET or due to some other diseases. Consult your doctor before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET.

    Others

    TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • Have alcohol intoxication
    • Have intoxication of sleeping tablet

    Before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • Have suicidal thoughts or worsening of depression
    • Have ever had fits or seizures (epilepsy)
    • Have signs of low potassium levels in the blood like weakness or twitching of muscles, abnormal heart rhythm
    • Have low levels of magnesium in the blood
    • Have prostate enlargement
    • Have low blood pressure
    • Have hyperthyroidism
    • Have problems in passing urine or frequent urination
    • Have an eye problem called narrow angle glaucoma 
    • Have schizophrenia or any other type of mental disorder

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you have received or taking any of the following medicines:

    • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI) like tranylcypromine, phenelzine, isocarboxazid and other antidepressants likes amitriptyline or fluoxetine or selegiline and levodopa (medicines used to manage parkinson’s disease)
    • Buprenorphine (used to manage pain)
    • Tranquilizers or sleeping pills such as diazepam or zolpidem (used to induce sleep)
    • Medicines used to manage epilepsy or fits (Ex. carbamazepine and phenytoin), tryptophan (used to manage sleep apnea)
    • Clonidine (used to manage high blood pressure), medicine used to manage heart problems (Ex. digoxin), anti-arrhythmic drugs like quinidine, sotalol (medicine used to manage abnormal heart rhythm)
    • Medicines used to manage fungal infections (Ex. ketoconazole and itraconazole)
    • Ritonavir, indinavir (medicines used to manage HIV infection)
    • Erythromycin (medicine used to manage bacterial infections)
    • St. john’s wort (herbal medicine used for depression)
    • Warfarin (used to manage or manage blood clots)
    • Triptans such as sumatriptan, rizatriptan (used to manage migraine)
    • Antihistamines like chlorpheniramine, diphenhydramine (used to manage allergies)
    • Oral contraceptives such as ethinyl estradiol, levonorgestrel (used to manage pregnancy)
    • Muscle relaxants like baclofen, methocarbamol (used to relax and reduce muscle tension)
    • Antipsychotics such as phenothiazines used to manage psychosis (Ex. chlorpromazine, fluphenazine and perphenazine)
    • Anaesthetics such as propofol, lidocaine (used during the operation)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptoms of TRAZOSH 25MG TABLET includes nausea, vomiting, sleepiness, dizziness or fainting, fits, confusion, breathing or heart problems.
