Introduction About TOBAMIST RESPULE
TOBAMIST RESPULE contains Tobramycin which belongs to a group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used for the management of chronic chest infections in patients with cystic fibrosis caused by a bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Cystic fibrosis is a life-threatening condition that damages the lungs and digestive tract caused by the bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa. It is characterized by cough, repeated lung infections, weight gain and fatty stools.
Your doctor may test your hearing before starting or at any time during the management with TOBAMIST RESPULE. Always use TOBAMIST RESPULE exactly as directed by your doctor. Before using this medicine, inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney, heart problems, neuromuscular disorders and hearing problems. TOBAMIST RESPULE should be used with caution in pregnant women or if you are planning become pregnant and in breast-feeding woman. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
Safety and efficacy of this medicine have not been studied in paediatric patients below 6 years of age and in elderly patients above 65 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice. The common side effects are cough, ringing in ears and hoarseness. Consult your doctor if the side effects do not improve or worsens.

How TOBAMIST RESPULE Works
TOBAMIST RESPULE belongs to antibiotic which inhibits the bacterial growth in the airways by managing synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. This manages infection in the airways.
How to use TOBAMIST RESPULE
Use TOBAMIST RESPULE as advised by your physician. It is for oral inhalational use only. It is administered by nebulisation using with nebuliser (with a face mask or mouthpiece) which is connected to an air compressor. Do not exceed the recommended dose of TOBAMIST RESPULE. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of TOBAMIST RESPULE for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of TOBAMIST RESPULE
Common
- cough
- hoarseness
Uncommon
- thrush in the mouth characterized by creamy white lesion in togue, cheeks
- vertigo (feeling of spinning)
- increased salivation
- inflammation of the tongue, sore throat
- rash
- noisy breathing
- nausea
- mucosal dry, coughing up blood
- pain in the throat
- loss of hearing, headache
- shortness of breath, weakness
- producing more sputum (the substance you cough up) than normal
- gastric pain
- fungal infection
Rare
- loss of appetite
- nose bleeds
- runny nose
- mouth ulcers
- vomiting
- taste disturbances
- asthma
- loss of strength
- fever, pain, laryngitis (voice alteration with sore throat and difficulty swallowing)
How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea
To avoid dehydration in your body, drink plenty of fluids such as water, fruit juices or electrolytes. If the condition worsens, consult your physician immediately.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Lie or sit down immediately when you feel dizzy. If you're feeling severe episode of spinning (vertigo), lie in a dark and quite place with eyes closed. Try to avoid vehicle driving. Discuss with your doctor if the symptom worsens.

Headache
Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage the scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

Nausea And Vomiting
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if there is no improvement in symptoms.

Skin rash Or Itching
Try to avoid hot showers because it may cause skin irritation. Avoid frequent contact and rubbing over the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. If this symptom does not get better, speak to a doctor.

Pregnancy
Use with CautionTOBAMIST RESPULE should be used with caution in pregnant women or if you think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby. Consult your doctor for advice.

Breastfeeding
Use with CautionTOBAMIST RESPULE should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice.

Driving and Using Machines
Use with CautionDo not drive or handle any machines while using TOBAMIST RESPULE, since it may cause dizziness.

Kidney
Use with CautionTOBAMIST RESPULE should be used with caution in patients having kidney diseases. Consult your doctor before using TOBAMIST RESPULE.

Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not use TOBAMIST RESPULE if you are allergic to Tobramycin or any other aminoglycosides like gentamicin, amikacin.

Lungs
Use with CautionTOBAMIST RESPULE should be used with caution in patients having lung infections. Consult your doctor before using TOBAMIST RESPULE.

Use In Pediatrics

Use In Geriatrics

Before using TOBAMIST RESPULE, inform your doctor if you:
- have muscle disorders, such as myasthenia gravis and neuromuscular disorders like parkinsonism
- are currently coughing up blood
- have hearing problems
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before using TOBAMIST RESPULE inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- polymyxin, cephalothin (medicine used to manage bacterial infections)
- amphotericin B (medicine used to manage fungal infection)
- furosemide, bumetanide, mannitol (medicine used to reduce pressure and swelling)
- cisplatin (medicine used to manage cancer)
- carboplatin, ciclosporin (used in organ transplantation)
- neostigmine and pyridostigmine, botulinum toxin (medicine used to manage muscle weakness)
- tacrolimus (medicine used to manage graft rejection)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally uses too much of TOBAMIST RESPULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are severe hoarseness.
