    Introduction About TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET contains Tizanidine which belongs to a group of medicines called Skeletal muscle relaxants. It is used to relieve the stiffness and restriction of muscles resulting from multiple sclerosis, injury or diseases of the spinal cord.

    Multiple sclerosis is a disease in which the immune system destroys the protective layer of nerves resulting in cramping, difficulty in walking, muscle paralysis, etc. Your doctor may want you to take several blood tests and liver function tests to understand your existing condition. Do not consume alcohol while taking this medicine.

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems, or rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose galactose malabsorption. Before using TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET consult your doctor if you have any kidney, liver, heart disease (like coronary artery disease), or intolerance to any sugars.

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended in pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET should be used with caution in geriatric patients. The most common side effects of using this medicine are drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness, dry mouth. Consult your doctor if these side effects get more severe.

    Uses Of TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET

    • It is used to relieve the stiffness and restriction of muscles resulting from multiple sclerosis, injury or diseases of the spinal cord

    How TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET Works

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET works on the specific centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle spasm and stiffness without reduction in strength. Thus relieves the pain and improves muscle movement.

    How to use TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET

    Take TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET with a glass of water and do not chew or crush the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET

    Common

    • drowsiness, tiredness, dizziness
    • low blood pressure
    • raised blood pressure when stopping the management suddenly
    • dry mouth, nausea, stomach upsets
    • decrease or increase in heart rate

    Rare

    • hallucinations (seeing or hearing things which are not there)
    • feeling sick
    • sleep disorders including difficulty in sleeping
    • allergic reactions (itching, rash)
    • changes in the function of the liver
    • muscle weakness

    Stop taking TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • allergic reactions like swelling of lips, face or neck, leading to skin rashes, difficulty in breathing

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Stomach upset:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor immediately if you feel sick.

    Nausea:

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil-rich or spicy foods. Keep yourself hydrated. Consult your doctor immediately if symptoms do not improve.

    Tiredness, Dizziness:

    Try to rest and relax. Apply a relaxing balm to ease off the pain or discomfort. Do not use any machinery or drive until you feel better. If there is no improvement in the symptom, contact your doctor at the earliest.

    Warning & Precautions

    Pregnancy

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women or women planning to have a baby. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or use any machinery if you feel drowsiness or dizziness after taking TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Do not consume alcohol during the management with TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET as it may increase the sedative effect.

    Kidney

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases. Dose will be adjusted by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking it. 

    Liver

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you have severely impaired liver function.

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking it. 

    Allergy

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you are allergic to Tizanidine or any other components of the medicine.

    Heart Disease

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems such as coronary artery disease. Consult your doctor before taking it. 

    Others

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption.

    Before taking TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • are intolerant to some sugars

    Use in Paediatrics:

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Your doctor will decide the correct dose depending upon the disease condition. Consult your doctor before taking it. 

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug Interactions:

    Before taking TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET, inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicines to manage depression (Ex. fluvoxamine)
    • some antibiotics known as fluoroquinolones (Ex. enoxacin, pefloxacin or norfloxacin) to manage infections
    • medicine to manage an abnormal heart rhythm (Ex. amiodarone, mexiletine or propafenone)
    • medicines to manage indigestion and digestive ulcers (Ex. cimetidine)
    • pain killers (Ex. rofecoxib)
    • contraceptive pills (Ex. progestin/oestrogen)
    • medicine to manage blood clots (Ex. ticlopidine)
    • any medicine to manage high blood pressure (Ex. atenolol, propranolol, furosemide)
    • medicine to manage congestive heart failure (Ex. digoxin)
    • medicines for sleeping problems or anxiety (Ex. temazepam)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of TIZAVIN 4MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, low blood pressure, a slow or abnormal heartbeat, dizziness, small pupils, difficulty breathing, coma, restlessness, or sleepiness.
