    Introduction About THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP

    THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP is a combination of Levosalbutamol and Theophylline which belongs to the group of medicines called Beta agonists and Bronchodilator respectively. THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP is used to manage asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In these conditions, the airways become inflamed and swollen causing difficulty in breathing.

    Asthma is a condition in which your airways narrow and swell and may produce extra mucus. Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Symptoms include breathing difficulty, cough, mucus (sputum) production and wheezing.

    Before taking THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP, inform your doctor if you have taken flu vaccine, have heart problems. thyroid problems or taking any medication. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking the medicine. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition. Consult your doctor for advice. The common side effects of THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP are nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, restlessness, tremors, headache, palpitations, muscle cramp, increased heart rate. Consult your doctor immediately if you feel any of these side effects worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    How THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP Works

    THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP is a combination of Levosalbutamol and Theophylline. Levosalbutamol works by relaxing the muscles around the airways so that they open, and you can breathe more easily. It also decreases the lungs response to irritants. Theophylline helps to reduce wheezing and breathless also reduces swelling in the lungs of asthma patients and relieves the feeling of tightness in their chest.

    How to use THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP

    Take THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP

    Common

    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • upset stomach
    • restlessness
    • tremors
    • headache
    • palpitations
    • muscle cramp
    • increased heart rate

    Uncommon

    • seizures
    • dizziness
    • skin rashes
    • tremor of hands

    Stop taking THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing
    • have porphyria  

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

    Before taking THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP, inform your doctor if you:

    • have recently had, or are going to have a flu vaccine
    • experience worsening of chest symptoms
    • have an over or under-active thyroid gland  
    • have a stomach ulcer
    • suffer from seizures, fits, or convulsions
    • have a viral infection
    • have difficulty in passing urine
    • have intolerance to fructose

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicine used to manage depression (Ex. tranylcypromine, clomipramine)
    • medicine used to manage high blood pressure (Ex. propranolol)
    • digoxin to manage heart problems
    • medicine to manage asthma (Ex. theophylline, aminophylline)
    • antibiotics used to manage infections (Ex. ampicillin, amoxicillin, erythromycin or oxytetracycline)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of THEO ASTHALIN SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
