Introduction About TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION is a combination of Cefotaxime and Sulbactam which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage lower respiratory tract infection (infection affecting the lungs or below the voice box such as bronchitis and pneumonia) and genitourinary tract infection (infection affecting any part of the urinary system, the kidneys, bladder or urethra such as cystitis and urethritis).
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with asthma, heart or kidney disorder. Before receiving TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION inform your doctor if you have history of gastro-intestinal problems like colitis (causing diarrhea containing blood), epilepsy, meningitis, are on a low sodium diet and having schedule for any blood or urine tests.
This medicine should be used in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if clearly advised by the doctor. TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used with caution in children and adolescents. It should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above), especially in patients with impaired organ functioning.
The most common side effect of receiving TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION is pain at injection site. Inform your doctor immediately if the side effect worsens or persist for a long period of time.

How TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION Works
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION helps to manage bacterial infections, where cefotaxime works by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (which are responsible for the formation of bacterial cell wall) and inhibit the synthesis of bacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial cell death and sulbactam works by binding and inhibiting beta-lactamase (an enzyme that destroys antibiotic activity) produced by bacterial cells and thereby manages the reduction in antibacterial activity.
How to use TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into a vein as an intravenous injection or infusion or into your muscles as an intramuscular injection. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION
Common
- pain at the injection site
Uncommon
- diarrhoea
- kidney problems
- fever
- skin rash, itching, hives
- difficulty breathing
- convulsions (fits)
- redness and swelling at injection site
Rare
Inform your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects while receiving TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION:
- allergic reactions (such as severe skin rashes with itching, skin lumps or hives and swelling of the face, eyelids, lips or throat causing sudden wheeziness and tightness of chest)
- serious illness with blisters on the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals
- loss of consciousness, abnormal movements or convulsions (fits)
How To Manage Side Effects
Diarrhoea:
Drink lot of fluids such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat or spicy foods. Inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot showers because hot water can further irritate your skin. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used during pregnancy only if considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

Breastfeeding
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used in breast-feeding women only if considered clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel dizzy or drowsy, fall asleep or experience convulsions (fits) or unusual body movements after receiving [GBNEYWORD].

Kidney
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney disorder or impairment. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

Allergy
Do not receive TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION if you are allergic to Cefotaxime, Sulbactam or Beta lactam antibiotics like Penicillin or Cephalosporins and lidocaine.

Lungs
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with asthma. Consult your doctor before receiving it.

Heart Disease
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with heart disorder. Consult your doctor before receiving it.
Others
Before receiving TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:
- have history of allergies

Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before receiving TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- chloramphenicol and aminoglycosides like amikacin, gentamicin, netilmicin and tobramycin (medicines used to manage bacterial infections)
- probenecid (used to manage gout)
- contraceptives pill such as norethindrone, ethinyl estradiol (used to manage pregnancy)
- diuretics such as furosemide (used to manage hypertension or fluid retention)
Overdosage:
TAXIMAX 1.5GM INJECTION will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, inform your physician if you experience any undesirable effects.
