    Introduction About TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS

    TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS is a combination of Dexamethasone and Gentamycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Steroids and Antibiotics respectively. It is used to manage bacterial infections including conjunctivitis, keratitis and blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids).

    Before using TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS inform your doctor if you have any kidney, liver, lung or heart disease. TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if advised by the doctor.

    The most common side effects of using TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS are local burning or discomfort. Consult your doctor if any of these worsen or doesn’t improve.

    How TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS Works

    TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS manages bacterial infection and inflammation, where gentamycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic which acts by entering the bacterial cell and inhibiting the protein synthesis of the bacteria which is important for its functioning thus, helps in managing the infection. Dexamethasone is a steroid which manages inflammation by inhibiting the action of the substances that causes inflammation.

    How to use TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS

    Use TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS as advised by your doctor. It is for external use only. Do not touch the tip of the dropper on any surface. Squeeze the dropper gently, then dispense the medication inside the lower eyelid or ear. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, disease condition and body weight. Random or prolonged use of TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS can cause cataract, glaucoma and fungal infections.

    Interactions

    A. Drug – Drug Interactions:

    Before using TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS inform your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • medicines used to manage depression or anxiety (Ex. duloxetine)
    • corticosteroids such as prednisolone (used to manage inflammatory condition)
    • medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. glyburide, insulin)
    • NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen (used to manage pain and swelling)
    • medicines used to manage arthritis (Ex. probenecid)
    • medicines used to manage asthma (Ex. theophylline)
    • anticoagulants such as warfarin (used to manage blood clots)
    • live bacterial vaccines (Ex. measles, mumps, rubella)

    Overdosage:

    In case of overdosage or if you or anyone else has put too many drops or in case of accidental ingestion of TAMIGEN S EYE DROPS, consult your doctor or visit the nearby hospital immediately.
