Introduction About SWICH O TABLET
SWICH O TABLET is a combination of Cefpodoxime and Ofloxacin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. SWICH O TABLET is used to manage mild to moderate bacterial infections such as acute otitis media, pharyngitis, and sinusitis.
SWICH O TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Cefpodoxime, Ofloxacin, and/other cephalosporin antibiotics (such as cephalexin). It is also not recommended for use in patients suffering from epilepsy.
Before taking SWICH O TABLET, inform your doctor if you have stomach/intestinal disease, blood clotting disorders, diarrhoea, kidney disease, and/or liver disease.
SWICH O TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may cause harm to the foetus. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women since it may pass through breast milk.
SWICH O TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and is advised to be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years) after consulting the doctor.
The most common side effects of taking SWICH O TABLET are stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, headache, and/or pain in neck, lower legs. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsens.
Uses Of SWICH O TABLET
It is used to manage mild to moderate bacterial infections such as:
- acute otitis media (middle ear infection)
- pharyngitis (sore throat)
- sinusitis (infection of sinus)
How SWICH O TABLET Works
SWICH O TABLET manages bacterial infections, where Cefpodoxime works by managing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of the bacteria in the human body and Ofloxacin works by inhibiting DNA gyrase (enzyme responsible for replication, transcription and repair of the DNA) which results in destruction of bacteria thus managing and managing the spread of bacterial infection in affected individuals.
How to use SWICH O TABLET
Take SWICH O TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of SWICH O TABLET

Rare
Stop taking SWICH O TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea and Vomiting:
Take SWICH O TABLET with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Avoid drinking too much liquid along with your meals, drink slowly in between meals. Inform your doctor if the condition worsens.
Diarrhoea:
Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated. Try to avoid taking any medicine on your own to manage diarrhea. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and get enough sleep. Try to avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you feel dizzy. Limit consumption of alcohol, as it can aggravate dizziness. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom worsens.
Headache:
If SWICH O TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking SWICH O TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.
Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy
SWICH O TABLET is not recommended for use during pregnancy since the medicine may harm the foetus. Consult your doctor before taking SWICH O TABLET.

Breastfeeding
SWICH O TABLET is generally not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience sleepiness, dizziness, and/or blurred vision after taking [GBNEYWORD].

Alcohol
Avoid alcohol consumption of alcohol while taking SWICH O TABLET since it may cause drowsiness.

Kidney
SWICH O TABLET should be used caution in patients with kidney disease. Consult your doctor before taking SWICH O TABLET.

Liver
SWICH O TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking SWICH O TABLET.

Allergy
Do not take SWICH O TABLET if you are allergic to Cefpodoxime, Ofloxacin, other cephalosporin antibiotics (such as cephalexin), and/or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Others
SWICH O TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have epilepsy
Before taking SWICH O TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- suffer from viral infections such as common cold flu
- have stomach/intestinal disease
- suffer from blood clotting disorders
- have diarrhoea
Use in pediatrics:
SWICH O TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (below 18 years). Consult your doctor before taking SWICH O TABLET.
Use in geriatrics:
