SUPPOL 250 Suppositories is an Analgesic and Antipyretic. It is used to manage pain and fever (high temperature) in children (from 3 months to 12 years of age) who find it difficult to take the medicine orally. It contains paracetamol as an active ingredient.
Suppol (Paracetamol Suppository) which ensures accurate dosage with no wastage. unlike suspension or syrup, Suppol suppsitory is the better alternative to injectable – no pricks, no pain. Suppol suppository can be administered easily even when the child is sleeping.
Paracetamol relieves pain by increasing the pain threshold by inhibiting certain enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2) involved in the synthesis of chemicals responsible for inducing pain (prostaglandins). It reduces fever by directly acting on heat-regulating centres in the brain, resulting in vessel relaxation, sweating, and loss of body heat.
Administer SUPPOL 250MG SUPPOSITORY to your child as advised by the physician. It is for rectal use only. 15mg/kg body weight in 4-6 divided doses not exceeding 1 gm per dose and 60 mg/kg body weight in a day. Your child’s bowel needs to be empty when you administer it. Wash your hands and peel the wrapping apart. Do not break the medicine before use. Smoothly push into the back passage of the child with the pointed end first.
