    Description

The Sterimed Nasopharyngeal Airway is a medical device designed to establish and maintain a patent airway in emergency situations. It is particularly useful for semi-conscious or unconscious patients who are unable to maintain their own airway. This device, also known as a nasal trumpet, is a tube inserted through the nostril into the posterior pharynx to displace the tongue and soft palate, thereby facilitating oxygenation and ventilation. It is often preferred over an oropharyngeal airway for patients with an intact gag reflex as it is generally better tolerated.

Made from soft, non-irritant medical-grade PVC material for patient comfort.
Features a thin-walled, kink-resistant design to ensure a clear pathway for air.
Designed with smooth, rounded edges to reduce trauma during insertion and removal.
Equipped with a rotatable flange for easy securing and adjustment.
Supplied sterile (E.T.O. sterile) and is intended for single use to prevent cross-contamination.

Q: What is a nasopharyngeal airway used for?

A: A nasopharyngeal airway is a medical device inserted through the nostril to maintain an open airway in unconscious or semi-conscious patients. It helps bypass obstructions at the level of the nose, nasopharynx, or the base of the tongue.

Q: What material is the Sterimed Nasopharyngeal Airway made from?

A: The Sterimed Nasopharyngeal Airway is crafted from a soft, non-irritant, medical-grade PVC (polyvinyl chloride).

Q: Is this product intended for single use?

A: Yes, this airway is designed for single use only. It is E.T.O. (ethylene oxide) sterile and pyrogen-free to avoid the risk of cross-contamination.

Q: Who should insert a nasopharyngeal airway?

A: The use and insertion of a nasopharyngeal airway should be restricted to a qualified doctor or healthcare professional only.

Q: In what situations is a nasopharyngeal airway beneficial?

A: It is particularly useful in emergency situations, for patients with an intact gag reflex who cannot tolerate an oropharyngeal airway, or when the patient's mouth is difficult to open.

    Direction for Use/Dosage

This product is intended for use by trained healthcare professionals only.
Select the correct size by measuring from the tip of the patient's nose to the earlobe.
Lubricate the tip of the airway with a water-soluble lubricant to ease insertion.
With the patient's head in a neutral position, gently insert the airway into a nostril, following the natural curve of the nasal passage.
Advance the tube until the flange rests against the nostril.
After insertion, reassess the patient to ensure the airway is patent and ventilation is occurring.
