Introduction About SQTINE EZ TABLET
SQTINE EZ TABLET is a combination of Ezetimibe and Simvastatin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihyperlipidemic agents. It is used to reduce elevated blood lipid levels (hyperlipidemia) in addition to proper diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.
By reducing lipid levels in the blood, SQTINE EZ TABLET can also be used to manage the risk of heart attack, stroke, atherosclerosis and other circulatory disorders. Along with the management, avoid drinking large amount of alcohol to achieve better results.
Before taking SQTINE EZ TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have thyroid problems, diabetes, high blood pressure or a family history of muscle disorders.
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver or kidney problems. It is also not suitable for use in patients with severe repetitive unexplained muscle pains or in patients who had recently taken an antibiotic called Fusidic acid to manage bacterial infections.
Do not take SQTINE EZ TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive method to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with SQTINE EZ TABLET.
The most common side effects of taking SQTINE EZ TABLET are headache, constipation, bloating, muscle pain and liver problems. Consult your doctor if they bother you.

- Prevent the risk of heart attack, stroke or atherosclerosis
How SQTINE EZ TABLET Works
SQTINE EZ TABLET is a lipid-lowering medicine. It reduces the levels of bad cholesterol (VLDL and LDL) and triglycerides in the body by blocking the actions of certain enzymes that are involved in lipid metabolism (such as HMG-CoA reductase). Additionally, it can also reduce the amount of cholesterol synthesised by the body.
By lowering the blood lipid levels, SQTINE EZ TABLET manages fat deposition within the blood vessels and reduces the chances of heart attack, stroke, atherosclerosis or other circulatory problems.
How to use SQTINE EZ TABLET
Take SQTINE EZ TABLET as directed by your physician. It can be taken with or without meals. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking SQTINE EZ TABLET without consulting your doctor.
Side Effects Of SQTINE EZ TABLET

Rare
Stop taking SQTINE EZ TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- severe allergic skin reactions (such as skin rash, itching, skin redness with blisters or peeling of the skin, swelling in the mouth, which may be associated with high fever and joint pains)
- unexplained muscle pain or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever, weakness or reddish-brown urine
- lupus-like disease syndrome is characterized by rash, muscle pain, joint disorders, pain and swelling
- severe allergic reactions (such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat which makes it difficult to swallow or breathe, breathing problems or wheezing, severe dizziness or fainting, rash or hives, itching)
- liver problems symptoms such as feeling tired or weak, upper belly pain, yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes, loss of appetite, dark urine, nausea, vomiting
- severe stomach pain due to inflammation of pancreas
- breast enlargement in men
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea:
Take SQTINE EZ TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.
Headache:
Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fiber rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.
Warning & Precautions
Pregnancy
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it may cause serious harm to the growing foetus. Therefore, inform your doctor before taking it. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraception to avoid pregnancy while undergoing therapy with SQTINE EZ TABLET. If you accidentally become pregnant while taking this medicine, stop taking it and consult your doctor immediately.
Breastfeeding
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if your ability is affected by SQTINE EZ TABLET.
Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking SQTINE EZ TABLET as it may reduce the effectiveness of this medicine.
Kidney
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe kidney problems. It should be used with caution in patients with other mild kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Liver
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver or gall bladder problems. It should be used with caution in patients with other liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Lungs
SQTINE EZ TABLET should be used with caution in patients with respiratory failure. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Others
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use if you:
- have repeated or unexplainable muscle cramps or pain
- have inflammation of the pancreas
- have problems in the thyroid gland (underactive thyroid)
- have a family history of muscular disorder
- previously had any muscle problems while taking a similar types of lipid-lowering medicines
- are an alcoholic
Before taking SQTINE EZ TABLET, inform your doctor if you:
- have diabetes (type I or type II)
- are obese
- have high blood pressure
- have blood problems
Use in pediatrics
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in children aged below 10 years. It should be used with caution in children aged above 10 years. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice.
Use in Geriatrics
SQTINE EZ TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug Interactions:
Before taking SQTINE EZ TABLET inform to your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- medicines used to manage cancer (Ex. actinomycin, regorafenib)
- medicines used to suppress immune system after organ transplantation (Ex. cyclosporin)
- medicines used for blood thinning (Ex. warfarin, acenocoumarol, ticagrelor)
- clopidogrel (a medicine used to manage blood clots)
- medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. erythromycin, telithromycin, fusidic acid)
- medicines used to manage HIV and hepatitis C infections (Ex. lamivudine, stavudine, ritonavir, dasabuvir, sofosbuvir, velpatasvir, voxilaprevir, lopinavir, atazanap[-vir)
- medicines used for contraception (Ex. ethinylestradiol)
- medicines used to manage diabetes (Ex. rosiglitazone, pioglitazone)
- other medicines used to manage high lipid levels in blood (Ex. fenofibrate, cholestyramine, colesevelam, niacin)
- medicines used for indigestion such as antacids (Ex. aluminium hydroxide)
- danazol (a medicine used to manage endometriosis)
- medicines used to manage fungal infections (such as itraconazole, ketoconazole, fluconazole, posaconazole or voriconazole)
- nefazodone (a medicine used to manage depression)
- cobicistat (a medicine used to manage obesity)
- amiodarone (a medicine used to manage irregular heartbeat)
- medicines used to manage gout (Ex. colchicine)
- rifampicin (a medicine used to manage tuberculosis)
B. Drug- Food Interactions:
Avoid drinking grapefruit juice while taking SQTINE EZ TABLET as it may increase the risk of side effects.
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally took more SQTINE EZ TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.

SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in patients who consume large amounts of alcohol. It is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking SQTINE EZ TABLET to achieve maximum benefits.
Can the use of SQTINE EZ TABLET make me feel more tired?
Yes. The use of SQTINE EZ TABLET can make you feel more tired because it acts by reducing the supply of energy to the muscles present in your body. However, you may also feel tired due to other reasons such as severe liver damage. Consult your doctor if you experience excessive tiredness with muscle pain.
Who should not take SQTINE EZ TABLET?
SQTINE EZ TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver or kidney problems. It is also not suitable for use in patients having muscle problems. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding consult your doctor before taking SQTINE EZ TABLET. Before taking SQTINE EZ TABLET inform your doctor if you have diabetes. However, if it is time to take the next dose of SQTINE EZ TABLET, skip the missed dose and take the next one at regular times. Do not take a double dose of SQTINE EZ TABLET to compensate the missed dose, as it could lead to toxicity.
Can I stop taking SQTINE EZ TABLET once my blood cholesterol level is controlled?
Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, as it could once again increase your blood cholesterol levels. SQTINE EZ TABLET can only control your blood cholesterol levels and cannot manage them completely, therefore, it is important to take this medicine until your doctor advises you to stop.
Can I take SQTINE EZ TABLET if I am diabetic?
