Introduction About SPASMODART TABLET
SPASMODART TABLET is a combination of Dicyclomine, Paracetamol and Diclofenac which belongs to the group of medicines called Antispasmodics, Analgesics & Antipyretic agents and Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs respectively. It is used to relieve pain and spasm in conditions like primary dysmenorrhoea, spasmodic dysmenorrhoea, surgical pain & spasm, renal colic, biliary colic, uterine colic (pain due to block in urinary tract by stone) and backache.
Dysmenorrhoea is a cramping pain in the lower abdomen which occurs before or after menstruation. Spasmodic dysmenorrhoea is a painful spasm during menstruation.
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, liver, kidney and heart. Consult your doctor for advice.
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in woman who are pregnant. It should be used with caution in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor for advice.
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age and it should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice.
The most common side effects of taking SPASMODART TABLET are stomach pain, indigestion, heart burn and vomiting. Consult your doctor if the symptoms does not improve.
Uses Of SPASMODART TABLET
It is used to relieve pain and spasm in following conditions such as:
- Primary dysmenorrhoea
- Spasmodic dysmenorrhoea
- Surgical pain & spasm
- Renal colic, biliary colic, uterine colic

How SPASMODART TABLET Works

How to use SPASMODART TABLET

Side Effects Of SPASMODART TABLET
Common
- stomach pain
- indigestion
- heartburn

- loss of appetite
- vertigo
- dizziness
- headache
Uncommon
- fast or irregular heartbeat
- chest pain
- signs of heart disease including breathlessness, difficulty in breathing when lying down, swelling of hands and feet
Rare
- stomach ulcer or bleeding
- gastritis
- vomiting blood
- diarrhoea with blood
- black tarry stools or faeces
- symptoms of fluid retention like swollen ankles
- signs of asthma include coughing, chest tightness, wheezing
Stop taking SPASMODART TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- sudden and crushing chest pain
- breathlessness, difficulty in breathing when lying down, swelling of hands and feet
- signs of stroke like sudden weakness or numbness in the face, arm or leg especially on one side of the body
- sudden loss or disturbance of vision, difficulty in speaking or ability to understand
- speech, sudden migraine-like headaches
- signs of bleeding in the stomach or intestine when emptying your bowels, blood in vomit or black, tarry faeces
- wheezing or shortness of breath (bronchospasm)
- swollen face, lips, hands or fingers
- yellowing of skin or eyes
- persistent sore throat or high temperature (fever)
- change in the amount of urine produced and/or its appearance
- abdominal cramps and tenderness
- Stevens Johnson Syndrome (serious illness with blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes and genitals)
How To Manage Side Effects
Nausea or Vomiting:
Take this medicine with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals and try to avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks and drinks. Take liquid drink slowly in between meals. Consult your doctor.
Diarrhea:
Drinking lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice helps to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medication on your own without physician consultation.
Stomach pain:
Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Discuss with your doctor if the symptoms is not improving.
Flatulence:
Eat smaller and frequent meals. Eat and drink slowly and exercise regularly. If the symptom does not improve. Contact your doctor for advice.
Constipation:
Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Warning & Precautions

Pregnancy
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant woman especially during the last three months since it may affect the blood circulation of the unborn child. Consult your doctor before taking SPASMODART TABLET.

Breastfeeding
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding woman. Consult your doctor for advice before taking SPASMODART TABLET.

Driving and Using Machines
Do not drive or handle any machines while taking SPASMODART TABLET, since it may cause dizziness, tiredness and sleepiness or blurred vision. Consult your doctor for advice.

Alcohol
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking SPASMODART TABLET because it can aggravate the side effects.

Kidney
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having kidney failure. Consult your doctor before taking SPASMODART TABLET.

Liver
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having liver failure. Consult your doctor before taking SPASMODART TABLET.

Allergy
Do not take SPASMODART TABLET if you are allergic to Dicyclomine, Paracetamol and Diclofenac or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Lungs
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with asthma, seasonal allergic rhinitis, swelling of the nasal mucosa (nasal polyps), chronic pulmonary diseases or infections of the respiratory tract. Consult your doctor before taking SPASMODART TABLET.

Heart Disease
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having stablished heart disease and/or cerebrovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, mini stroke (TIA) or blockages to blood vessels to the heart or operation to clear or bypass blockages. It should be used with caution in patients having angina, blood clots and high blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking SPASMODART TABLET.
Others
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use if you have:
- stomach or duodenal (peptic) ulcer
- bleeding in the digestive tract
- problems with your blood circulation (peripheral arterial disease)
Before taking SPASMODART TABLET, inform your doctor if you have:
- stomach or bowel disorders
- porphyria or bleeding disorders
- raised cholesterol or raised triglycerides
- diabetes
- Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
- glaucoma
- enlarged prostate
- hiatus hernia (where part of your stomach pushes through the diaphragm)
Use in Pediatrics:
SPASMODART TABLET is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age. Consult your doctor for advice before taking SPASMODART TABLET.
Use in Geriatrics:
SPASMODART TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor for advice.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before taking SPASMODART TABLET inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines to manage diabetes (Ex. metformin, glibenclamide)
- blood thinner (Ex. warfarin)
- furosemide, bumetanide (medicine used to manage odeama)
- lithium (medicine used to manage some mental problems)
- methotrexate (medicine used for management of some inflammatory diseases and some cancers)
- ciclosporin and tacrolimus (medicine used to manage some inflammatory diseases and after transplants)
- trimethoprim (medicine used to manage or manage urinary tract infections)
- levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin (medicines used for infections)
- aspirin or ibuprofen (medicines used as painkillers)
- mifepristone (medicine used to terminate pregnancy)
- digoxin (used to manage heart problems)
- citalopram, fluoxetine (medicines used to manage depression)
- prednisolone (medicine used as an anti-inflammatory drug)
- medicines used to manage heart conditions or high blood pressure (Ex. telmisartan, enalapril)
- voriconazole (medicine used to manage fungal infections)
- phenytoin (medicine used to manage seizures or fits)
- colestipol/cholestyramine (medicine used to lower cholesterol
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of SPASMODART TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms include headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, stomach or intestinal bleeding, rarely diarrhoea, disorientation, excitation, coma, drowsiness, dizziness, ringing in the ears, fainting or occasionally convulsions (uncontrolled fits, seizures).
