    Introduction About SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP contains Phenylephrine Hydrochloride which belongs to the group of medicines called Nasal Decongestants. SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is used to relieve nasal discomfort caused by colds, allergies and hay fever. It is also used to relieve nasal congestion (blocked nose) and pressure.

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, prostate problems, overactive thyroid gland. SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with asthma. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended for use in pregnant, breastfeeding women and in children below 6 years of age and SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    The most common side effect of using SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP are rebound nasal congestion due to overuse, especially when used longer than 3 days. Contact your doctor if your symptoms worsen.

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is a nasal decongestant and works by reducing the size of the blood vessels in the nose and sinuses, thus makes it easier for you to breathe.

     

    How to use SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP

    Take SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before each use. Your doctor will determine the correct dose and duration for you based upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP

    Common

    • rebound nasal congestion (especially when used longer than 3 days)

    Uncommon

    • restlessness, tremors
    • insomnia
    • stinging, burning, drying of nasal mucosa

    Rare

    Stop taking SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP and contact your physician immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • severe allergic reaction such as difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
    • symptoms of fast heart rate, changes in heart rhythm, palpitations (feeling your heartbeat), high blood pressure
    • nausea, vomiting
    • fever, headache
    • difficulty passing urine especially in males
    • nervousness, dizziness, sleepiness

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea and vomiting:

    Take SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP, with or just after a meal. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy food. Contact your doctor if your nausea and vomiting did not improve.

    Headache:

    Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.

    Dizziness:

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Do not take SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP if you are allergic to phenylephrine or to any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with asthma. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Heart Disease

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with heart diseases. high blood pressure (particularly due to a tumour near the kidney). Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended for use if you:

    • have diabetes
    • have prostate problems
    • have glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)
    • have an overactive thyroid gland

    Before taking SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP, inform your doctor if you:

    • have blood circulation problems (such as Raynaud’s Phenomenon, which makes the toes and fingers numb and pale)
    • are having surgery including dental surgery
    • have phenylketonuria (an inherited condition that causes build-up of phenylalanine)
    • have bowel obstruction

    Use in Paediatrics:

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP is not recommended in children below 6 years of age and it should be used with caution in children aged 6 to 12 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Use in Geriatrics:

    SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients. Contact your doctor before taking it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (Ex. linezolid)
    • isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranylcypromine, amitriptyline (medicines used to manage depression)
    • medicine used for heart failure, angina (Ex. digoxin, glyceryl trinitrate, atenolol)
    • lamotrigine (used to manage fits)
    • ephedrine (used to manage nasal congestion)
    • ergotamine (used to manage migraine)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of SOLVIN DECONGESTANT SUGAR FREE SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Signs and symptoms of overdose include tachycardia (fast heartbeats), palpitations (particularly in patients with cardiac disease), dizziness, nausea, vomiting. Overdose in patients older than 60 years may result in hallucinations, CNS depression, fits.
