Description

Smith & Nephew IV 3000 Ported Bactigras is a sterile, transparent adhesive dressing designed for securing IV catheters and other medical devices. It combines the features of the IV3000 film dressing with Bactigras, a gauze impregnated with 0.5% Chlorhexidine Acetate. This dressing acts as a barrier between the wound and a secondary dressing, allowing fluid to pass into an absorbent secondary layer while releasing an antiseptic to manage infection. The transparent film allows for continuous monitoring of the IV site.

Antiseptic Component: Contains Chlorhexidine Acetate 0.5%, which is slowly released to provide sustained action against a range of bacteria. Moisture Responsive Film: Features REACTIC™ film technology that is highly permeable to water vapor, helping to keep the catheter site dry and reducing the risk of skin maceration. Transparent Film: Allows for continual visual inspection of the catheter insertion site without needing to remove the dressing. Secure Fixation: The dressing is designed with a non-irritating adhesive to securely fixate catheters, reducing movement and potential complications. Waterproof Barrier: The film is waterproof and acts as a barrier to external contaminants, including bacteria.

Q: Is this dressing waterproof?

A: Yes, the IV3000 dressing is waterproof, which allows the user to shower without needing to remove it.

Direction for Use/Dosage

First, wash your hands and gently clean and dry the wound and surrounding skin. Peel open the packaging and remove the protective papers from the dressing. Place a single layer of the dressing directly over the wound or IV insertion site. For deeper wounds, after applying the dressing, you may fill the remaining space with an appropriate wound filler. Cover with a secondary absorbent dressing and secure it in place. The dressing may be left in place for several days, depending on the wound's condition, but the secondary dressing should be changed as needed. If the dressing sticks upon removal, gently soak it with a sterile saline solution.
