Introduction About SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION
SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION is a fixed-dose combination of cefepime and tazobactam which belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics. It is used to manage several bacterial infections like lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbation causing breathing difficulties, urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, skin infections, abdominal and biliary tract infections, vaginal infections, bacteraemia, and bacterial meningitis in infants and children.
SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION is also used along with other antibacterial agents in the management of neutropenia caused by bacterial infection. Pneumonia is an infection that causes inflammation in the air sac, producing a cough with phlegm and shortness of breath. Pyelonephritis is a urinary tract infection affecting the urinary bladder that later spreads to the kidneys.
Bacteremia is an infectious condition indicating the presence of bacteria in the bloodstream. Bacterial meningitis is an infection caused by bacteria in the region surrounding the brain. Neutropenic means low levels of neutrophils (a type of white blood cell) in our body.
SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION should not be used in patients allergic to penicillin antibiotics, cefepime, tazobactam and other beta-lactam antibiotics. SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney and liver diseases. Avoid using other aminoglycoside antibiotics and diuretics, and SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION.
There is no proper information regarding the use of SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION in pregnant women and so it should be used with caution in pregnant women. SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION should be used with caution in children above 2 months and elderly people. The common side effect of SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION is injection site reactions such as pain and inflammation. Consult your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse or persist.
Uses Of SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION
It is used to manage:
- lower respiratory tract infections, such as pneumonia, and acute bacterial exacerbation causing breathing difficulties
- uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis
- skin and subcutaneous infections
- intra-abdominal infections, including peritonitis and biliary tract infections
- gynaecological infections
- bacteraemia associated with other infections
- bacterial meningitis in infants and children
How SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION Works
SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION works by destroying the bacterial growth responsible for causing infections. SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION has two antibiotics cefepime a cephalosporin antibiotic and tazobactam a beta-lactam antibiotic. Cefepime works by interrupting wall formation by binding with the enzymes responsible for cell wall synthesis. This binding causes defects in the cell wall leading to cell death and causing the death of the organism. Tazobactam present in SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION is responsible for the irreversible termination of enzymbeta-lactamasesases) that protect the organism from antibiotics. Tazobactam produces fewer anti-bacterial actions when given alone so it’s always used in combination with other antibiotics. Thus, both substances work by managing cell growth and function inhibit biting bacterial growth.
How to use SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION
SCUD XP 1GM INJECTION must be given by a doctor or nurse into the vein (intravenously)or the muscle (intramuscularly). Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. If you have any doubts regarding the doses, consult your doctor.
