Introduction About SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET is a combination of Ambroxol and salbutamol, which belongs to the group of medicines called Mucolytics and Selective beta-2-adrenergic agonists respectively. It is used in the management of cough and management of bronchospasm associated with respiratory conditions such as bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema. Bronchospasm is a condition where the muscles lining the airways (bronchi) in your lungs tighten and gets difficult to breathe.

Before taking SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the key contents present in it. Inform your doctor if you threatened abortion (possible miscarriage) during the first six months of your pregnancy, for example. Consult your doctor for advice.

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET should only be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women if prescribed by a doctor. SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET is not recommended for use by children under 6 years of age. The most common side effects are headaches, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, and changes in taste. Consult your doctor if any of your symptoms get worse or persist.

How SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET Works

Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent that thins the mucus and makes it less viscous and quick to cough out. Whereas salbutamol acts by widening the airways (bronchi) of the lungs. They collectively act by eliminating the sputum secretion and making breathing easier.

How to use SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET

Always take SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine with plenty of water and do not crush or chew the medicine. It can be taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after the meal. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending on your conditions.

Side Effects Of SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET

Common

  • changes in the sense of taste
  • numbness in the throat and mouth
  • nausea
  • tremor
  • headache
  • dizziness
  • heart beating faster than normal
  • palpitation
  • muscle cramps
  • feeling sick

Uncommon

  • increased blood sugar level (hyperglycaemia)
  • vomiting
  • diarrhoea
  • indigestion
  • stomach pain
  • dry mouth

Rare

  • rash
  • hives

Consult your doctor immediately if you have the following symptoms

  • allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, lips, throat, and tongue
  • pale or red irregular patches with severe itching, difficulty breathing, low blood pressure and collapse
  • jaw, chest, and shoulder pain (which can also be with the symptoms including shortness of breath, feeling or being sick)
  • difficult to breathe when lying flat, wheezing, clammy skin
  • irregular heartbeat
  • low blood potassium (hypokalaemia) with symptoms such as fatigue, and muscle spasms
  • increased lactic acid in the body with symptoms such as weakness, rapid breathing, and stomach pain
  • severe skin reaction such as rash, lesions on the mucous membrane of the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, reproductive organs

How To Manage Side Effects

Diarrhea

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices, to keep yourself hydrated. Take no medication on your own to manage diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Dizziness Or Drowsiness

Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume too much alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Headache

Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids, such as water or electrolytes. Apply a pain-relieving balm to the head if required. Do not consume too much alcohol. Consult your doctor if the symptom does not improve.

Nausea And Vomiting

Receive this medicine with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your symptoms get worse or persist.

Stomach Pain

Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly, or try to have smaller and more frequent meals. Keep a heating pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, contact your doctor.

Alcohol

Lungs

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having lung problems like bronchus motor activity disorder along with the large secretion of mucus. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Heart Disease

Use with Caution

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients having a history of heart disease, irregular heart rhythm, or angina. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Others

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET should be used with caution in individuals with the following conditions:

  • overactive thyroid gland
  • peptic ulcers
  • diabetes

Use in Paediatrics:

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET is not recommended for infants under 6 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

Use in Geriatrics:

SALMUCOLITE 30/2MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. The management is recommended to be initiated with a lower dose. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Interactions

A: Drug-Drug interactions:

Inform your physician if you have been given,

  • corticosteroids are used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune system (Ex. prednisone, prednisolone)
  • drugs for high blood pressure (Ex. propranolol, methyldopa)
  • tricyclic anti-depressants such as (Ex. amitriptyline, and amoxapine)
  • diuretics for diuresis (Ex. hydrochlorothiazide, furosemide)
  • monoamine oxidase inhibitors used to manage depression (Ex. isocarboxazid, phenelzine, selegiline)
  • for heart problems (Ex. digoxin)
  • xanthine is used for asthma (Ex. theophylline, aminophylline)

Overdosage:

If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately. Symptoms include low levels of potassium in the blood which could cause muscle twitching or weakness and irregular heartbeat.
