    Introduction About ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET contains Roxithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage mild to moderately severe bacterial infections such as upper respiratory tract infections like acute pharyngitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, lower respiratory tract infections like acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and acute bronchitis (inflammation of bronchial tube with thick mucus and breathing difficulties, community acquired pneumonia (lung infection acquired outside the hospital), skin and soft issues infections, impetigo (contagious skin infections with red sores around the face, mouth and nose), non gonococcal urethritis (inflammation of urinary tube causing pain and burning sensation while urinating), acute pharyngitis, and tonsillitis (inflammation of tonsils or pharynx with sore throat and pain during swallowing).

    Prior to the management with ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET, your doctor may want you to take several blood tests to understand your existing condition.

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET is not recommended for patients having severely impaired liver function. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    It should be used with caution among patients with impaired kidney function and heart disease like congenital prolonged QT interval. Consult your doctor before taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET.

    The safety and efficacy of [GBNKEYOWORD] has not been established in foetus (unborn child). Hence consult your doctor during pregnancy.

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET is not recommended for use during breastfeeding as it may excrete in breastmilk. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age, body weight and disease condition.

    Caution should be exercised when ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET is taken by elderly patients. The most common side effects of taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET are diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal or stomach pain. Consult your doctor if any of the above side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.

    Uses Of ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET

    It is used manage bacterial infections such as:

    • upper respiratory tract infections like acute pharyngitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis
    • lower respiratory tract infections like acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis and acute bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia
    • skin and soft issues infections, impetigo (contagious skin infections)
    • non gonococcal urethritis

    • acute tonsillitis

    How ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET Works

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET works by inhibiting the protein synthesis through cell wall penetration of the suspectable organisms and binding on the 50 S ribosomal subunit of bacteria thereby terminating the bacterial growth. As a result, it blocks the growth of the bacteria and stops the infection from spreading.

    How to use ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET

    Always take ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water before food or on an empty stomach (more than 3 hours after a meal). Do not chew or crush the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon the age, body weight and severity of the infection.

    Side Effects Of ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET

    Common

    • diarrhoea
    • nausea, vomiting
    • abdominal or stomach pain

    Uncommon

    • headache
    • dizziness

    Rare

    • rashes

    Stop taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of serious allergic reaction like swelling of the face, mouth, lips, and tongue, itchy skin, rash and asthma
    • severe abdominal or stomach cramps, watery and persistent severe diarrhoea (may be with blood), fever with or without the above symptoms

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea:

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juices to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Stick to simple meals. Try to avoid oil rich or spicy foods, sugary snacks, and drinks. Try to drink liquid slowly along with your meals, or in between meals. Consult your doctor if your symptom is not improving.

    Headache:

    Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Try to take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee. Massage on scalp or head with mild pressure. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Stomach pain:

    Try to rest and relax. Try to have smaller and frequent meals. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. Take your physician’s advice.

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you have dizziness, blurred vision or visual impairment after taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET.

    Kidney

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients having impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor for advice before taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET.

    Liver

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients having severely impaired liver function (liver cirrhosis with jaundice or ascites). Consult your doctor before taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET.

    Allergy

    Do not take ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET if you are allergic to Roxithromycin or macrolide antibiotics (Ex. azithromycin, erythromycin, or clarithromycin), or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Heart Disease

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET should be taken with caution in patients having heart disease like congenital prolonged QT interval. Consult your doctor before taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET.

    Others

    Use in pediatrics:

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for your child depending upon the child’s age, body weight and severity of infection. Consult your doctor before giving ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET to your child.

    Use in geriatrics:

    ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • theophylline (medicine used to manage asthma)
    • ergotamine or dihydroergotamine (used to manage migraine headache)
    • terfenadine, astemizole (medicines used to manage allergic conditions)
    • cisapride (used to manage heartburns and gastrointestinal problems)
    • pimozide (used to manage psychosis)
    • warfarin, vitamin K Antagonists like phenprocoumon (used to manage blood clots)
    • digoxin, digitoxin (medicines used to manage heart failure, irregular heart rhythms)
    • midazolam (used to induce drowsiness or sleep before operations)
    • ciclosporin (medicine used to manage graft rejection after organ transplantation)
    • chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine (used to manage malaria)
    • rifabutin and bromocriptine (used in the management of HIV infections)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of ROXIVISTA 150MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
