Introduction About ROXEM KID TABLET
ROXEM KID TABLET contains Roxithromycin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used to manage mild to moderately severe bacterial infections in children such as acute pharyngitis and tonsillitis (inflammation of pharynx or tonsils characterized by sore throat and pain during swallowing), skin and soft issues infections like impetigo (contagious skin infections that predominantly affects infants and young children characterised with red sores around the face, mouth, and nose).
Prior to the management, your doctor may want you to take several blood tests to examine your child’s existing condition.
ROXEM KID TABLET is not recommended for use in children having severely impaired liver function. Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET to your child.
It should be used with caution among children with impaired kidney function and heart diseases. Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET to your child.
Your doctor will prescribe the right dose and duration depends on your child’s age, body weight and severity of the infection. Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET to your child.
ROXEM KID TABLET may cause minor side effects such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhoea, flatulence although not everybody gets them. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen or persist for a longer duration.
Uses Of ROXEM KID TABLET
It is used to manage bacterial infections in children such as:
- acute pharyngitis
- acute tonsillitis
- skin and soft issues infections like impetigo
How ROXEM KID TABLET Works
ROXEM KID TABLET works by inhibiting the protein synthesis through cell wall penetration of the suspectable organisms and binding on the 50 S ribosomal subunit of bacteria thereby terminating the bacterial growth. As a result, it blocks the growth of the bacteria and stops the infection from spreading.
How to use ROXEM KID TABLET
Give ROXEM KID TABLET to your child as per the physician’s advice.
For Tablet, Capsule: ROXEM KID TABLET should be taken with a glass of water and do not crush or chew the medicine.
For Dispersible Tablet: Disperse ROXEM KID TABLET in the specified quantity of water as mentioned in the label. Then mix it well and give your child to drink it immediately.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for your child depending upon your child’s age, body weight and severity of infection. Continue to give ROXEM KID TABLET for the stipulated duration prescribed by your doctor to achieve better results.
Side Effects Of ROXEM KID TABLET
Rare
Stop taking ROXEM KID TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if your child experience any of the following side effects:
- serious allergic reaction like swelling of the face, mouth, lips, and tongue, itchy skin with rash, blisters, and bleeding in the lips, mouth, noses, eyes, genitals, asthma, wheezing
- severe abdominal or stomach cramps, watery and persistent severe diarrhoea (may be with blood), fever with or without the above symptoms
- frequent infections such as sore throat, mouth ulcers, fever, and severe chills
Warning & Precautions
Driving and Using Machines
Do not allow your child drive or play outdoors, as ROXEM KID TABLET may cause dizziness or blurry vision. Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET.
Kidney
ROXEM KID TABLET should be used with caution in children having impaired kidney function. Consult your doctor for advice before giving ROXEM KID TABLET.
Liver
ROXEM KID TABLET is not recommended for use in children having severely impaired liver function (liver cirrhosis with jaundice and/or ascites). Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET.
Allergy
Do not give ROXEM KID TABLET if your child is allergic to Roxithromycin or macrolide antibiotics (Ex. azithromycin, erythromycin, or clarithromycin), or any other ingredients of this medicine.
Heart Disease
ROXEM KID TABLET should be given with caution in child having heart diseases. Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET.
Others
Use in pediatrics:
ROXEM KID TABLET is recommended for use in children and adolescents. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration for your child depending upon the child’s age, body weight and severity of infection.
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before giving ROXEM KID TABLET, inform your doctor if your child is taking any of the following medicine:
- theophylline (medicine used to manage asthma)
- ergotamine or dihydroergotamine (used to manage migraine headache)
- terfenadine, astemizole (medicines used to manage allergic conditions)
- cisapride (used to manage heartburns and gastrointestinal problems)
- pimozide (used to manage psychosis)
- warfarin, phenprocoumon (used to manage blood clots)
- ciclosporin (medicine used to manage graft rejection after organ transplantation)
- chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine (used to manage malaria)
- rifabutin and bromocriptine (used in the management of HIV infections)
Overdosage:
If your child or anyone else accidentally took too much of ROXEM KID TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit any nearby hospital.

Who should avoid taking ROXEM KID TABLET?
ROXEM KID TABLET is not recommended for use in children having severely impaired liver function. Consult your doctor before giving ROXEM KID TABLET.
What should I do if I forget to give ROXEM KID TABLET to my child?
Try to give the medicine at the same time each day. If you have missed a dose by chance, try to administer the ROXEM KID TABLET as soon as possible when you notice. However, if the time for next dose is closer, skip the dosage and do not try to give the double dosage.
Can I stop giving ROXEM KID TABLET to child on my own?
Do not stop giving ROXEM KID TABLET on your own without doctor’s advice. When the course of management is not complete or doses are skipped, it will not completely clear the infection, or the symptoms may reoccur.
