    Introduction About ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS

    ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS contains Ampicillin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used in neonates (aged 2 weeks or older) to manage bacterial infections of the ear, respiratory tract (bronchus, lungs), urinary tract, genital tract, stomach, blood, brain or skin and soft tissues.

    It can also be used to manage typhoid fever, meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain), peritonitis (inflammation of the lining of the stomach) and endocarditis (inflammation of the lining of the heart and its valves).

    ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS should be taken on an empty stomach. It is important to take ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor to achieve better results even if your child feels better during the midway of the therapy. Failing to complete the full course of the therapy or skipping doses in between the therapy may not result in adequate infection control.

    During therapy with ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS, your doctor will periodically monitor your child’s health condition through several blood tests/urine tests to assess the improvement in their health condition and to reduce the risk of unwanted side effects.

    The most common side effects of taking ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS are nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Inform your doctor if they trouble your child.

    Uses Of ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS

    It is used in neonates (aged 2 weeks or older) to manage various bacterial infections such as:

    • Ear infections (Ex. otitis media)
    • Respiratory tract infections (Ex. bronchitis and pneumonia)
    • Urinary tract infections (Ex. cystitis and kidney infections)
    • Genital tract infections (Ex. gonorrhoea)
    • Stomach infections (Ex. peritonitis)
    • Blood infections (Ex. sepsis)
    • Skin or soft tissue infections (Ex. acne)
    • Meningitis (inflammation of the protective layer surrounding the brain)
    • Endocarditis (inflammation of the protective layer surrounding the heart)
    • Typhoid fever

    How ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS Works

    ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS is a bactericidal agent. It kills the susceptible bacteria by blocking the bacterial cell wall synthesis that is essential for the bacterial cell to survive. This action destroys the susceptible bacteria, manages their further growth and multiplication and reduces the severity of the infection.

    How to use ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS

    ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS should be taken on an empty stomach or at least 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals. Follow the instructions mentioned on the product label. Measure and administer the required amount of medicine as advised by your doctor.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for your child depending upon their age, body weight and severity of the infection.

    Do not stop therapy with ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS once the symptoms subside in your child. It is important to complete the course of therapy with ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS to achieve better control over the infection.

    Side Effects Of ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS

    Common

    • diarrhoea
    • nausea, vomiting

    Rare

    Stop giving ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS to your child and contact your doctor immediately if they experience any of the following side effects:

    • signs of severe allergic reactions (such as skin rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • signs of stomach damage causing severe uncontrollable watery diarrhoea, feeling weak and fever
    • severe skin reactions (such as widespread skin rash with blistering and swelling)
    • bloody urine, lower back or difficulties in urination (signs of kidney problems)
    • yellowing of skin and whites of the eye (signs of liver problems)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or vomiting:

    Make sure that your child takes simple meals. Do not provide them with oil-rich or spicy foods. Please consult your doctor immediately if nausea worsens in your child.

    Diarrhoea:

    Make sure that your child drinks plenty of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep themselves hydrated. Consuming ORS can also be beneficial. Do not self-manage diarrhoea on your own without consulting your doctor. If your diarrhoea worsens, contact your doctor immediately.

    Kidney

    ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS should be used with caution in children suffering from kidney problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before administration.

    Allergy

    Talk to your doctor before giving ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS if your child is allergic to Ampicillin, or to any other beta-lactam antibiotics (such as amoxicillin) or cephalosporin antibiotics (such as cefixime).

    Others

    Before administering ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS to your child, inform your doctor if your child:

    • has lymphatic leukaemia (cancer or blood or bone marrow)
    • has glandular fever
    • has any viral infections

    ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS can be used in neonates (aged 2 weeks or older) if prescribed by the physician. However, consult your doctor for advice.

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before administering ROSCILLIN PAEDIATRIC ORAL DROPS to your child, inform your doctor if your child is taking any of the following medicines such as:

    • other antibiotics (used to manage bacterial infections) such as tetracycline, erythromycin, and chloramphenicol

    Overdosage:

    If your child swallowed the medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
