    Introduction About ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET

    ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET contains Ropinirole which belongs to the group of medicines called Dopaminergic agonists. It is used to manage Parkinson’s Disease. Parkinson’s Disease is a brain disorder characterized by abnormal unintentional body parts such as tremors, loss of balance or coordination. It is caused due to low levels of a chemical called dopamine within the brain.

    ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET can also be used to manage the symptoms of moderate to severe idiopathic Restless Legs Syndrome (irresistible urge to move the legs and occasionally the arms even during sleep or in rest position).

    ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET is preferably taken with meals to avoid nausea and vomiting. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor, as it may lead to certain withdrawal symptoms like depression, loss of interest, anxiety, tiredness, sweating or pain. Talk to your doctor if you experience any of the above-mentioned symptoms after stopping or reducing the dose of ropinirole.

    Before taking ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any mental health problems or have an habit of smoking as a precaution. Do not take ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

    The most common side effects of taking ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET are nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, dizziness, excessive sleepiness, hallucinations, heartburn, stomach pain swelling of the legs, feet or hands and extreme mental or physical tiredness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.

    • Manage Parkinson’s Disease (signs include shakiness, abnormal body movements, loss of balance)
    • Manage the symptoms of moderate to severe idiopathic Restless Legs Syndrome (unintentional urge to move the legs)

    How ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET Works

    ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET is a dopamine agonist. It acts in a similar way to a natural substance called dopamine in the brain which helps in controlling body movements. As a result, it increases dopamine levels in the brain and controls abnormal body movements (such as tremors, and restless legs) associated with parkinsonism and restless leg syndrome.

    How to use ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET

    Take ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It is preferably taken with meals to avoid nausea and vomiting.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

    Side Effects Of ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET

    Common

    • nausea, vomiting
    • drowsiness, feeling faint, dizziness
    • hallucination (seeing or hearing things that are not real)
    • heartburn, stomach pain
    • swelling of the legs, feet or hands
    • nervousness
    • fatigue (mental or physical tiredness)
    • worsening of existing symptoms

    Uncommon

    • confusion
    • feeling dizzy or fainting, especially while standing up suddenly
    • low blood pressure (hypotension)
    • extreme sleepiness during the daytime, sudden onset of sleep episodes
    • delusions (unreasonable ideas)
    • paranoia (unreasonable suspicions)

    Stop taking ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET and consult your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • Behavioural changes (such as excessive gambling, binge-eating, excessive shopping or spending, abnormally high sex drive or increase in sexual thoughts, overactivity, mania, irritability)
    • Exacerbations of previous symptoms
    • Serious allergic reaction (such as hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing or swallowing)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Dizziness Or Drowsiness

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Take ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET with or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.

    Pregnancy

    ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women. However, your doctor may prescribe it to you after evaluating the potential risk to the foetus and benefits to the mother. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may affect the breast milk production. However, consult your doctor before taking it.

    • medicines used to manage depression or psychiatric disorders (Ex. fluvoxamine, sulpiride)
    • metoclopramide (a medicine used to manage nausea and heartburn)
    • HRT (hormone replacement therapy) used to manage hormonal problems
    • medicines used to manage bacterial infections (such as ciprofloxacin or enoxacin)
    • other medicines used for Parkinson's disease (such as amantadine, levodopa, carbidopa)
    • medicines used to manage or manage blood clot formation (such as warfarin, vitamin K antagonists)

    Take ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET with food to avoid the sensation of nausea and vomiting.

    Overdosage

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more ROPARK 0.5MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdosage might include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, drowsiness, mental or physical tiredness, fainting and hallucinations.
