    Introduction About RERIFER DROPS

    RERIFER DROPS is a combination of Elemental Iron and Folic Acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Haematinics. It is used to manage anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Anaemia is a condition that occurs when the number of healthy red blood cells in your body is too low.

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine. RERIFER DROPS is not recommended for use if you have hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis (iron overload) or hemolytic anemias, gastrointestinal ulcers or receiving repeated blood transfusions.

    Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have or had epilepsy, cirrhosis or other liver disease, kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis), hemolytic anemia, pernicious anemia, anemia that has not been diagnosed by a doctor and confirmed with laboratory testing, an infection or alcoholism.

    RERIFER DROPS should be used with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding women. RERIFER DROPS is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age and below 22 kgs. The most common side effects of RERIFER DROPS are nausea, vomiting, dark stools, abdominal pain, diarrhea. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms bother you.

    RERIFER DROPS is a combination of Elemental Iron and Folic Acid. Our body uses iron to make haemoglobin (protein in red blood cells) that carries oxygen from the lungs to all parts of the body. Iron is also used in the formation of some hormones. Folic Acid is crucial for proper brain function and plays an important role in mental and emotional health. It aids in the production body's genetic material, DNA and RNA and is especially important when cells and tissues are growing rapidly, such as in infancy, adolescence and pregnancy.

    How to use RERIFER DROPS

    Always take RERIFER DROPS as directed by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the correct dose, duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of RERIFER DROPS

    Common

    • abdominal pain
    • nausea and vomiting
    • dark stools
    • constipation
    • diarrhoea

    Rare

    Stop taking RERIFER DROPS and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • skin rashes and hypersensitivity reactions (wheezing, difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue or throat)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Constipation

    Eat plenty of fiber-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals and drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if symptoms don't improve.

    Diarrhea

    Drink lots of fluids, such as water or fruit juice to keep yourself hydrated. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor if symptoms don't improve.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Avoid oily and spicy food. Drink lots of water. If symptoms do not improve, contact your doctor.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to rest and relax. You can eat and drink slowly or have frequent meals. Keeping a heat pad on your stomach may also help. If pain persists, speak to your doctor.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take RERIFER DROPS if you are allergic to Folic acid, Elemental iron or any other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    RERIFER DROPS is not recommended for use if you:

    • have hemosiderosis or hemochromatosis (iron overload)
    • have hemolytic anemias

    • are receiving repeated blood transfusions

    Before taking RERIFER DROPS, inform your doctor if you:

    • had repeated blood transfusions
    • have epilepsy

    • have an infection
    • had alcoholism

    Use in Paediatrics:

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before taking RERIFER DROPS, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • medicines for managing infections (Ex. chloramphenicol, tetracyclines, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, ofloxacin, norfloxacin)
    • medicines containing zinc, calcium or magnesium salts
    • medicines used for thyroid gland problems (Ex. levothyroxine)
    • medicines used to manage ‘Parkinson’s disease’ (Ex. levodopa, entacapone)
    • medicines used for increase in blood pressure (Ex. methyldopa)
    • antacids used to manage indigestion (Ex. calcium carbonate)
    • medicines used in the management of rheumatoid arthritis (Ex. penicillamine)
    • medicines used to reduce cholesterol and fats in the blood (Ex. cholestyramine)
    • medicines for bone diseases (Ex. bisphosphonates)
    • medicines used for high copper levels in blood (Ex. trientine)
    • medicines used for various metal poisonings (Ex. dimercaprol)
    • medicines used during transplant (Ex. mycophenolate)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally takes too much of RERIFER DROPS, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, low blood pressure, changes in heart rate.
