    Introduction About REEPAG MF 1 TABLET

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is a combination of Repaglinide and Metformin which belongs to the group of medicines called Anti-diabetic agents. It is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are already managed with Meglitinide and Metformin or who have inadequate glycemic control on a Meglitinide alone or Metformin.    

    During course of the management your doctor might regularly monitor your blood glucose level and kidney function test at regular intervals to avoid any untoward side effects. Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking REEPAG MF 1 TABLET.  

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with cardiac, kidney or respiratory failure, impaired liver or kidney function, diabetic ketoacidosis, type-1 diabetes mellitus and if you are dehydrated. Before taking REEPAG MF 1 TABLET, inform your doctor if you have any planned major surgery.  

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET should not be used in pregnant women and breastfeeding women. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and it should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).

    The most common side effect of taking REEPAG MF 1 TABLET are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and taste disturbances. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects worsen.

    How REEPAG MF 1 TABLET Works

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is a combination of Repaglinide and Metformin where Repaglinide is a meglitinide analogue which increases the amount of insulin released by the pancreas. This manages blood glucose from rising very high after the meals. Metformin is a biguanide which decreases the production and absorption of sugar in your body and allows better use of existing insulin. 

    How to use REEPAG MF 1 TABLET

    Take REEPAG MF 1 TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water immediately before or up to 30 minutes before the meal. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Diarrhea

    Drink lot of fluids such as water to keep yourself hydrated. Avoid eating high-fat foods, dairy products and spicy foods. Do not consume any medicine on your own without consulting your doctor to manage diarrhea.

    Nausea And Vomiting

    Stick to simple meals while taking this medicine. Avoid eating oily, fried or spicy food. Do not perform any strenuous activities immediately after eating and do not lie down or sleep immediately after eating. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.

    Stomach Pain

    Try to rest and relax. Eat and drink slowly or try to have smaller meals more frequently. Keep a heat pad on your stomach. If the symptom does not improve, consult your doctor.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Use with Caution

    Your ability to drive or use a machine may be affected if your blood sugar is low. Do not drive or operate any machines if you experience any unusual reactions.

    Alcohol

    Contraindicated

    Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during management with REEPAG MF 1 TABLET since it may increase the risk of lactic acidosis.

    Kidney

    Contraindicated

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with renal failure or renal dysfunction. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    Contraindicated

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with hepatic insufficiency. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Contraindicated

    Do not take REEPAG MF 1 TABLET if you are allergic to Repaglinide and Metformin.

    Lungs

    Contraindicated

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with respiratory failure. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Heart Disease

    Contraindicated

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with acute or chronic disease which may cause tissue hypoxia such as cardiac failure or recently had myocardial infarction. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Use In Pediatrics

    Contraindicated

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Use In Geriatrics

    Use with Caution

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above). Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    REEPAG MF 1 TABLET is not recommended for use if you:

    • have diabetes mellitus type 1, c-peptide negative
    • have diabetic ketoacidosis
    • have severe infection
    • are dehydrated
    • have severe infection or shock

    Before taking REEPAG MF 1 TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    are about to have major surgery

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking REEPAG MF 1 TABLET, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • gemfibrozil (used to lower increased fat levels in the blood)
    • thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors (used to manage high blood pressure) Ex. captopril, enalapril
    • corticosteroids such as cortisone, hydrocortisone and prednisone (used to manage inflammation)
    • anabolic steroids such as nandrolone (used in the management of anemia of renal insufficiency)
    • oral contraceptives such as mifepristone (used for termination of pregnancy)
    • danazol (used to manage breast cysts and endometriosis)
    • thyroid hormones such as levothyroxine (used to manage underactive thyroid gland)
    • clarithromycin, trimethoprim, rifampicin (used to manage bacterial infections)
    • itraconazole, ketoconazole (used to manage fungal infections)
    • ciclosporin (used to suppress the immune system)
    • aspirin, clopidogrel (used to manage blood clots)
    • phenytoin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital (used to manage epilepsy)
    • St. john’s wort (herbal medicine) (used to manage depression)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of REEPAG MF 1 TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Overdosage symptom of REEPAG MF 1 TABLET includes lactic acidosis and low blood sugar levels with symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, tremor, headache and in severe cases it may cause seizures and loss of consciousness.
