    Introduction About REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is a combination of Lisinopril and Hydrochlorothiazide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihypertensive agents. It is used in the management of hypertension (high blood pressure). It is typically used in patients who have not responded adequately to therapy with either of the single agents.

    Before taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET inform your doctor if you have any lung, liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have diabetes, low blood pressure or severe dehydration as a precaution.

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe hypotension or severe kidney problems. It is also not suitable for use in women who are pregnant or breastfeeding due to the increased risk of side effects.

    During management with REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET your doctor will constantly monitor your kidney functions, blood pressure, electrolyte levels and blood sugar levels to avoid the risk of unwanted side effects.

    The most common side effects of taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET are headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects trouble you.

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is an antihypertensive medicine. It relaxes your blood vessels and improves blood flow across them. It also reduces thickness of the blood by removing excess fluids from the body in the form of urine. Collectively, these actions reduce the strain on the heart and helps the heart to pump blood more smoothly with less pressure.

    How to use REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET

    Take REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicines with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET can be taken with or without food.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Continue to take REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor to achieve better results.

    Side Effects Of REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET

    Common

    • headache, dizziness
    • nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
    • feeling faint while standing up
    • cough

    Uncommon

    • mood changes, depression
    • tingling or prickling sensation in arms, legs, or feet
    • vertigo (spinning sensation)
    • altered taste sensation

    • change of color in fingers or toes

    Stop taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • eye pain, decrease in vision
    • skin lesions
    • severe allergic reactions (such as rash, swelling of the face, lips, mouth, throat, or airways which can lead to difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
    • signs of liver problems (such as fever, muscle pain, rashes, itching, stomach pain, diarrhea, discoloration of eyes, skin and urine)

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea and vomiting:

    Take REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if your nausea worsens.

    Dizziness:

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your dizziness. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

    Headache:  

    Rest and relax. Keep yourself hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids such as water or electrolytes. Applying a pain-relieving balm on your forehead can be beneficial. Do not consume excessive alcohol, as it could aggravate your headache. Consult your doctor if your headache worsens.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals. Drink plenty of fluids. Exercise more regularly. Consult your doctor if this side effect bothers you.

    Pregnancy

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in pregnant women as it may cause serious harm to the growing fetus. Therefore, inform your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby. If you accidentally become pregnant while undergoing therapy with REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor immediately.

    Breastfeeding

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any heavy tools or machines if you feel dizzy after taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET as it may severely decrease your blood pressure and make you feel dizzier or faint.

    Kidney

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe kidney impairment (including dialysis). It should be used with caution in patients with other kidney problems (including kidney transplantation or renal artery stenosis). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Liver

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver problems. It should be used with caution in patients with other liver problems. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Do not take REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET if you are allergic to Hydrochlorothiazide, Lisinopril or to any other ACE inhibitor (such as captopril, enalapril, ramipril).

    Lungs

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with asthma. It should also be used with caution among patients who previously developed any breathing problems following the consumption of this medicine. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Heart Disease

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in patients with heart problems (such as ischemic heart disease (low oxygen supply to heart muscles), heart block, narrowing of heart valves, heart failure etc.). Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    Others

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for you, if you:

    • have a family history of allergic reactions (such as angioedema)
    • are not passing urine
    • have diabetes with impaired kidney functions
    • have severe low blood pressure (hypotension)

    Before taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET, inform your doctor if you:

    • have any blood disorders
    • have low blood pressure
    • are on a salt-restricted diet
    • are severely dehydrated due to any recent sickness such as vomiting or diarrhea
    • have problems in the blood vessels supplying the brain
    • have any autoimmune disease that affects the skin or collagen (Ex. lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, or scleroderma)
    • have gout (joint pain caused due to accumulation of uric acid)
    • have diabetes
    • have hyperkalaemia (high blood potassium levels)
    • have fluids/electrolyte imbalance in the body
    • are going to check your parathyroid gland
    • have previously had skin cancer
    • are scheduled for any upcoming surgery
    • are scheduled for LDL apheresis (a procedure to remove cholesterol from the blood)
    • have any desensitization management (used to reduce the effect of an allergy to bee or wasp stings)

    Use in paediatrics:

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years). Therefore, consult your doctor before consumption.

    Use in geriatrics:

    REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET should be used with caution in elderly patients. Therefore, consult your doctor before taking it.

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET inform to your doctor, if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:

    • medicines used for heart conditions such as hypertension, chest pain, irregular heartbeats, or heart failure (Ex. atenolol, propranolol, nitroglycerin, valsartan, candesartan, irbesartan, methyldopa, aliskiren, amiodarone, sotalol, quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, dofetilide, ibutilide, procainamide, digitalis, sacubitril/valsartan)
    • medicines used to manage organ transplant rejection (Ex. ciclosporin, temsirolimus, sirolimus, everolimus)
    • racecadotril (a medicine used to manage diarrhea)
    • anti-diabetic medicines and insulin (used to lower the blood glucose level) Ex. vildagliptin, metformin
    • medicines that supplement potassium to the body (Ex. spironolactone, triamterene or amiloride)
    • lithium (a medicine used in some types of mental illness)
    • thrombolytics (used to dissolve blood clots) Ex. reteplase, tenecteplase
    • other diuretics (used to reduce edema) Ex. furosemide, bumetanide
    • trimethoprim containing antibiotics (used for infections)
    • heparin (used to manage blood clots)
    • medicines used to induce sleep (Ex. alprazolam, midazolam)
    • tricyclic antidepressants (used to manage depression) Ex. amitriptyline
    • antipsychotics (used to manage serious mental illnesses) Ex. clozapine, risperidone
    • anesthetics (used to manage pain during surgery) Ex. propofol, thiopental
    • medicines used to relieve pain (Ex. morphine, aspirin, diclofenac, diflunisal, celecoxib, valdecoxib)
    • medicines used to control blood cholesterol levels (such as cholestyramine or colestipol)
    • gold therapy (used to manage rheumatic conditions)
    • medicines used to suppress cough (such as dextromethorphan, guaiphenesin, pseudoephedrine)
    • adrenaline or nor-adrenaline (used for low blood pressure, shock, cardiac failure, asthma or allergies)
    • corticotropin (used to check the function of adrenal gland)
    • corticosteroids (used to manage inflammation) Ex. prednisolone
    • medicines used to manage gout (such as probenecid, sulfinpyrazone and allopurinol)
    • cyclophosphamide or methotrexate (medicine used to manage cancer)
    • carbenoxolone (a medicine used to manage stomach ulcers)
    • laxatives (used to manage constipation) Ex. lactulose
    • tubocurarine, dantrolene (medicines used as a muscle relaxant)
    • calcium supplements and/or vitamin D supplements
    • carbamazepine (a medicine used to manage epilepsy)
    • amphotericin B (a medicine used to manage fungal infections)
    • iodinated contrast agents (used during X-ray procedures)
    • atropine (a medicine used to improve heart rate)
    • biperiden (a medicine used to manage parkinsonism)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more REDIHOPE 5MG TABLET, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
