    Introduction About RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is a combination of Chlorpheniramine and Levodropropizine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines and Cough suppressants respectively. It is used to manage dry cough due to various reasons. It is also used to manage allergic cough, hay fever, common cold, watery eyes, itchy throat/skin, rhinitis, urticaria.

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine as this may lead to unwanted effects. RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Before taking RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP inform your doctor if you have lung, kidney, liver or heart disease.

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is generally not recommended for use in pregnancy. Contact your doctor before taking. RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women as it may pass through the breast milk. Contact your doctor before taking.

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking.

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Contact your doctor before taking.

    The most common side effects of this medicine are sedation, somnolence, exhaustion, constipation, vomiting, dry mouth, attention deficit, abnormal coordination, dizziness. Contact your physician if any of the side effects worsen.

    How RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP Works

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP helps to manage dry cough, where Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine works by blocking the histamine H1 receptor and manages the release of histamine (which normally produces symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose) and Levodropropizine is a cough suppressant which relieves cough by activity on the cough centre in the brain.

    How to use RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP

    Take RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your physician will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP

    Rare

    • urinary retention

    Stop taking RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • severe allergic reactions such as redness, itching, urticaria, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat causing difficulty in breathing or sudden drop in blood pressure

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Nausea or Vomiting:

    Take this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating oily or spicy foods.

    Constipation:

    Eat plenty of fibre rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and cereals and drink water. Exercise regularly.

    Dizziness:

    Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Do not consume alcohol, as it can aggravate your dizziness. Contact your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsiness after taking RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP as it may lead to unwanted effects.

    Kidney

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Liver

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver disease. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Allergy

    Do not take RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP if you are allergic to Chlorpheniramine, Levodropropizine, or to other ingredients of this medicine.

    Lungs

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with lung diseases such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, asthma or chronic lung disorders (difficulty in breathing and cough). Contact your doctor before taking.

    Heart Disease

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases or heart rhythm disorders. Contact your doctor before taking  

    Others

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is not recommended for use if you:

    • have Kartagener’s syndrome
    • have mucociliary function disorder      

    Before taking RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP, inform your doctor if you have:

    • depression
    • diabetes
    • gastric ulcer
    • epilepsy
    • increased blood pressure
    • enlarged prostrate
    • high eye pressure
    • overactive thyroid dysfunction

    Use in pediatrics:

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP is not recommended for use in children under 6 years of age. Contact your doctor before taking.

    Use in geriatrics:

    RAPITUS PLUS SYRUP should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged above 65 years). Contact your doctor before taking.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Inform your physician if you are taking any of the following medicine:

    • alprazolam, bromezapam, diazepam, clonazepam, clorazepate, chlordiazepoxide (medicines used to manage anxiety, fits, insomnia)
    • buspirone, hydroxyzine (medicines used for anxiety)
    • zolpidem (medicines used to manage insomnia)
    • isocarboxazid, phenelzine, tranylcypromine and tricyclic antidepressants like amitriptyline, desipramine (medicines used for depression)
    • linezolid (medicines used to manage bacterial infections)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took too much of this medicine, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
