Introduction About R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS)

R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) contains Chorionic Gonadotropin which belongs to the group of medicines called Gonadotropins. It helps in the growth and development of ovum (follicles or eggs) among women who undergo assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization.

It also helps in the release of matured ovum (eggs) from the ovaries (ovulation) and increase the chances of pregnancy among women who do not ovulate or having problems in ovulation.

R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is generally recommended after pre-management with certain medicines (such as follicle stimulating hormone or human menopausal gonadotropin) that stimulates ovarian follicles.

Prior to the management, your doctor may evaluate your and your partner’s fertility status thoroughly as a precaution. During management with R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS), your doctor would monitor your health condition through several blood tests and ultrasounds to avoid the risk of side effects such as abnormally enlarged ovarian follicles or multiple pregnancies.

Before receiving R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) inform your doctor if you have unexplained vaginal bleeding, blood clot problems or any tumors in the brain, breast, uterus or ovaries. You must also inform your doctor if you have any damage in the fallopian tubes, as management with R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) may cause ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy outside of the womb) in such cases.

R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) may cause false positive pregnant result in women who take pregnancy test using their blood or urine. This effect may last up to 10 days even after discontinuing management with R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS).

R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) should not be used in pregnant women after successful conception. It is also not recommended for use in breastfeeding women and in children or adolescents (below 18 years) due to lack of safety data.

The most common side effects of R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) are headache and injection site reactions (such as pain, redness and swelling). Consult your doctor if they worsen.

FAQs About R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS)

Can R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) help in getting pregnant?

Yes. R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is used to improve the growth and development of egg follicles in women who have problem with egg growth. It can also be used to stimulate the release of the completely matured egg from the ovaries in women who do not produce eggs or produce very few eggs. Can R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) be used in men?

No. R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) is not suitable for use in men. It exerts its effects only on the growth and development of ovarian follicles. Why I’m experiencing positive result in pregnancy kit after taking R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) even though I’m not pregnant?

It is because, R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS) contains a medicine called Chorionic Gonadotropin which is similar to an endogenous hormone called ‘human chorionic gonadotropin’ (HCG). HCG is a hormone that can only be produced in the body of pregnant women during the early stages of pregnancy. Because pregnancy kits are designed in such a way to capture the levels of naturally produced HCG hormone from the urine of pregnant women, they tend to show a false positive result after receiving R HUCOG PREFILLED SYRINGE(PFS), even if you are not pregnant.
