    Description

St. George's Punigel is a sterile, absorbable gelatin sponge intended for surgical use to assist in controlling bleeding. It is a water-insoluble, malleable sponge made from purified gelatin. When applied to a bleeding surface, it provides a porous matrix that facilitates clot formation. It is designed for situations where conventional methods of controlling capillary, venous, and arteriolar bleeding are difficult or impractical. The sponge is eventually absorbed by the body, eliminating the need for removal.

Haemostatic Properties: It is designed to control bleeding during surgical procedures when conventional methods like pressure or ligature are not feasible. Absorbable Material: Made from highly purified gelatin, it is completely absorbed by the body within approximately 4 to 6 weeks, leaving no residue. Sterile and Biocompatible: The sponge is gamma-sterilized, non-toxic, non-allergenic, and non-pyrogenic, making it suitable for internal use. High Absorption Capacity: It can absorb and hold a significant amount of blood, approximately 40 to 50 times its own weight. Versatile Use: The sponge can be cut to any desired size and can be applied either dry or saturated with a sterile saline solution.
