Introduction About PROCTOGARD T CREAM
PROCTOGARD T CREAM is a combination of Oxetacaine and Sucralfate which belongs to the group of medicines called Local Anesthetics and Cell Protective agents respectively. It is used to manage skin burns, wounds, bedsores, diabetic/radiation ulcers or damaged skin. It can also be used to manage hemorrhoids (swollen, inflamed veins around the anus or rectum), anal fissures (anal tear) or perineal trauma (pain caused due to episiotomy).
Apply PROCTOGARD T CREAM as directed by your physician. Wash your hands before and after application. Avoid contact of PROCTOGARD T CREAM with your eyes, ears, nose or other mucosal membranes. While applying vaginally or rectally, use a protective finger covering for application and discard it after use.
Before applying PROCTOGARD T CREAM inform your doctor if you have any pre-existing disease condition such as liver or kidney problems. Consult your doctor before applying PROCTOGARD T CREAM if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
PROCTOGARD T CREAM is generally safe and well tolerated. However, it may rarely cause mild skin reactions in few patients. Contact your doctor if you experience any unpleasant reactions after using PROCTOGARD T CREAM.
Uses Of PROCTOGARD T CREAM
It is used to manage:
- hemorrhoids (piles), anal fissures
- perineal trauma (pain caused due to episiotomy)
- wounds and skin burns
- bed sores
- skin damage due to radiation
How PROCTOGARD T CREAM Works
PROCTOGARD T CREAM contains two medicines namely sucralfate and oxetacaine. Sucralfate is a cell protective agent. It forms a protective layer over the damaged skin and covers it which helps in managing further injury. Oxetacaine is a local anesthetic agent. It reduces pain sensation from the inflamed skin areas. Collectively, they reduce pain and inflammation caused due to skin damage.
How to use PROCTOGARD T CREAM
Apply PROCTOGARD T CREAM as advised by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply the required quantity of the medicine on the affected skin areas. Avoid contact of PROCTOGARD T CREAM with your eyes, ears, nose or other mucosal membranes.
Wash your hands before and after application. Use a protective finger covering while applying PROCTOGARD T CREAM in the anal or vaginal areas. Discard the used finger covering after use.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
