How PRIMAPEN 500/500MG INJECTION Works
PRIMAPEN 500/500MG INJECTION contains imipenem a beta-lactam antibiotic that works by inhibiting the penicillin-binding proteins thereby managing the bacterial cell from synthesizing the cell wall and ultimately leading to cell-death. Cilastatin present in PRIMAPEN 500/500MG INJECTION is a renal dehydropeptidase-1 inhibitor which is administered with imipenem to block its metabolism that would have otherwise caused necrosis of some parts of the kidney. Hence cilastatin and imipenem together helps to manage bacterial infection.
