Introduction About POSID 50MG CAPSULE
POSID 50MG CAPSULE contains Etoposide which belongs to the group of medicines called Anticancer agents. It is used to manage various types of cancer such as small cell lung cancer, blood cancer, lymph cancer, ovarian cancer and testicular cancer.
POSID 50MG CAPSULE must be taken on an empty stomach. During management with POSID 50MG CAPSULE, your doctor will periodically monitor your heart, liver and kidney function as a precaution.
Before taking POSID 50MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you have any liver or kidney problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have any serious infections, low albumin levels in blood or recently received any vaccine or radiotherapy or chemotherapy as a precaution.
Do not take POSID 50MG CAPSULE without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Both men and women taking this medicine, must use a suitable contraceptive to stop pregnancy from occurrence during management with POSID 50MG CAPSULE and until 6 months after stopping the therapy.
The most common side effects of taking POSID 50MG CAPSULE are blood disorders, loss of appetite, constipation, pigmentation on the skin, temporary hair loss, weakness, tiredness and sore lips, mouth or throat ulcers. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects worsen.
Uses Of POSID 50MG CAPSULE
It is used to manage various types of cancer in adults such as:
- Small cell lung cancer
- Blood cancer (Ex. acute myeloid leukaemia)
- Lymph cancer (Ex. Hodgkin’s lymphoma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma)
- Ovarian cancer
- Testicular cancer

POSID 50MG CAPSULE is an anticancer agent. It works by blocking the abnormal actions of certain cellular proteins (topoisomerase 2) that triggers cancer cell formation. As a result, it reduces cancer formation and stops its further growth within the body.
How to use POSID 50MG CAPSULE
Take POSID 50MG CAPSULE as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. POSID 50MG CAPSULE must be taken on an empty stomach.
Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition. Continue to take POSID 50MG CAPSULE for the stipulated duration instructed by your doctor to achieve better results.

How To Manage Side Effects

Dizziness Or Drowsiness
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operating any tools or machines completely while you are feeling dizzy. Consult your doctor if your dizziness worsens.

Nausea And Vomiting
Stick to simple meals and avoid oil rich or spicy foods. Consult your doctor if nausea worsens.

Skin rash Or Itching
Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. Consult your doctor if your skin rash worsens.

Pregnancy
ContraindicatedPOSID 50MG CAPSULE is not recommended for use in pregnant women. Therefore, consult your doctor for advice before taking it. Women of childbearing potential must use a suitable contraceptive method to manage pregnancy while taking POSID 50MG CAPSULE and until 6 months after stopping the therapy.

Breastfeeding
ContraindicatedPOSID 50MG CAPSULE may pass through breast milk. Therefore, it is not recommended for use in breast-feeding women. Kindly consult your doctor before taking it.

Driving and Using Machines

Alcohol

Kidney

- are recently vaccinated with live vaccines (including yellow fever vaccine)
Before taking POSID 50MG CAPSULE, inform your doctor if you:
- have any serious infections
- recently had radiotherapy or chemotherapy
- have low albumin levels in blood

Before taking POSID 50MG CAPSULE inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines such as:
- live vaccines (including yellow fever vaccine)
- ciclosporin (a medicine used to suppress immune function and to stop graft rejection post-transplant)
- cisplatin (another medicine used to manage cancer)
- medicines used to manage epilepsy (such as phenytoin, carbamazepine)
- warfarin (a medicine used to stop blood clot formation)
- medicines used for pain relief (such as phenylbutazone, sodium salicylate, or aspirin)
- other medicines used for cancer such as anthracyclines (Ex. doxorubicin, epirubicin, daunorubicin)
Over dosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally take too much of POSID 50MG CAPSULE, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
