Description

This Pfact Fixed Volume Pipette is a laboratory instrument designed for the precise and accurate transfer of a 20 microliter liquid volume. It is commonly used in chemical and analytical laboratories for various applications. The ergonomic and lightweight design aims to reduce user fatigue during repetitive tasks.

Fixed 20uL Volume: Dispenses a constant volume of 20 microliters, which can contribute to the reproducibility of experimental results. Fully Autoclavable: The entire pipette can be sterilized by autoclaving at 121°C, which helps in preventing cross-contamination. Ergonomic Construction: Designed to be lightweight with soft plunger movement to minimize hand fatigue during prolonged use. Durable Materials: Features a PVDF tip cone and a corrosion-resistant tip ejector for longevity and protection against chemical corrosion. Clear Identification: The pipette is color-coded for straightforward identification of its volume capacity.

Q: What is a fixed volume pipette used for in a laboratory setting?

A: A fixed volume pipette is a precision instrument designed to dispense a specific, preset volume of liquid with high accuracy and repeatability. It is commonly used for routine laboratory tasks, diagnostics, and quality control where consistent dosing is required.

Q: Is the Pfact pipette autoclavable?

A: Yes, the Pfact pipette is described as fully autoclavable, which is a process that uses steam at high pressure and temperature to sterilize the equipment.

Q: How should this pipette be operated for accurate measurement?

A: To operate, press the plunger to the first stop, immerse the tip in the liquid, and smoothly release the plunger to draw the sample. To dispense, press the plunger past the first stop to the second stop (blow-out) to ensure the full volume is expelled.

Q: Does this pipette require calibration?

A: Fixed volume pipettes come pre-calibrated. However, it is good practice to check the calibration periodically, especially after sterilization, to ensure continued accuracy. Some models may come with a calibration tool for minor adjustments by trained personnel.

Q: How should the pipette be sterilized?

A: For sterilization, autoclaving at 121°C (252°F) for at least 20 minutes is a common method for autoclavable pipettes. Always follow the manufacturer's specific instructions for sterilization to avoid damage.

Direction for Use/Dosage

Attach a compatible disposable tip to the cone of the pipette. Before aspirating the sample liquid, it is advisable to pre-wet the tip by aspirating and dispensing the liquid back into the source container three to five times. Press the plunger to the first stop, immerse the tip just below the surface of the liquid, and smoothly release the plunger to draw the 20uL volume. To dispense, place the tip against the wall of the receiving vessel and press the plunger smoothly to the first stop, and then to the second stop (blow-out) to expel any remaining liquid. Eject the used tip using the tip ejector button.
