    Introduction About PEDICLORYL SYRUP

    PEDICLORYL SYRUP contains Triclofos which belongs to the group of medicines called Sedative and Hypnotics. It is used for insomnia, recurrent colic with persistent crying, excitability, restlessness and convulsions in children. It is also used to provide sedation (calming down effect) in states of tension and anxiety and before any medical procedure. During management with PEDICLORYL SYRUP, your doctor may want to monitor your child’s respiration rate, heart rate, oxygen saturation level in the blood.

    PEDICLORYL SYRUP is not recommended for use if your child’s is allergic to Triclofos, chloral hydrate or any other ingredients and have porphyria (blood disorder). PEDICLORYL SYRUP should be taken with caution since prolonged use of this medicine may cause dependence.

    Before giving PEDICLORYL SYRUP inform your doctor if your child has any liver, kidney, respiratory and heart diseases to avoid unwanted side effects. The most common side effects of taking PEDICLORYL SYRUP includes nausea, vomiting, tiredness, drowsiness, impaired coordination. Consult doctor if any of the symptoms worsen or persists for a longer duration.

    Give PEDICLORYL SYRUP exactly as advised by your doctor. Shake well before use. It can be taken with or without food. Do not stop giving PEDICLORYL SYRUP before doctor’s advice. Your doctor will decide the correct duration for your child depending upon the age, body weight and severity of present condition.

    Side Effects Of PEDICLORYL SYRUP

    Common

    • nausea
    • vomiting
    • drowsiness (feeling sleepy)
    • impaired coordination

    Stop giving PEDICLORYL SYRUP and contact your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following side effects:

    • respiratory arrest, respiratory depression (which may leads to heart problems)
    • seizures or fits

    Avoid giving fried and greasy food. Give simple, light, small meals at frequent intervals. Keep your child hydrated by giving lots of fluids.

    Allergy

    Lungs

    PEDICLORYL SYRUP should be used with caution in patients who are weak and with reduced respiratory function as there is a chance of developing respiratory depression. Consult your doctor for advice.

    Heart Disease

    Use with Caution

    PEDICLORYL SYRUP should be taken in caution in patients with impaired heart function (serious heart diseases) and arrhythmias (irregular heart rate). Consult your doctor for advice.

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before giving PEDICLORYL SYRUP inform your doctor if your child taking following medicines:

    • medicine used to manage sleeplessness (Ex. chloral hydrate)
    • medicines which delay or manage clotting called anticoagulants (Ex. warfarin)
    • medicines used for mental problems (Ex. chlorpromazine, promazine)
    • medicines containing alcohol (Ex. cough syrups)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more of PEDICLORYL SYRUP, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
