    Introduction About OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET is a combination of Calcitriol, Vitamin K2 7(Menaquinone), Elemental Zinc, and Elemental Magnesium which belongs to the group of medicines called Vitamins and Minerals, respectively. It is used in the management of osteoporosis in affected individuals. Osteoporosis is a condition that cause bones to become weak and brittle which is generally characterized by symptoms such as back pain, stooped posture, and/or loss of height over time in affected individuals.

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET is not recommended for use in patients allergic to Calcitriol, and/other vitamin D metabolites (such as alfacalcidol, colecalciferol). It is also not recommended for use in patients suffering from hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in blood), and/or metastatic calcification (extra deposits of calcium in your body).

    Before taking [GBNKEWYORD], inform your doctor if you are immobilized (due to operation/any other reason), and/or have liver problems (such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease).

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET should be used with caution in pregnant and breast-feeding women only if it is clearly necessary. It is also advised to be used with caution in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years) and in elderly patients (aged 65years and above) after consulting your doctor.    

    The most common side effects associated with the use of OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET are hypercalcemia (high calcium levels in blood), headache, skin rash, excess thirst, nausea. abdominal pain, and/or urinary tract infection. Consult your doctor if any of these symptoms worsens.

    How OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET Works

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET helps in the management of osteoporosis, where calcitriol works by aiding the body to absorb more calcium from food/supplements which also regulates the production of parathyroid hormone (chemical responsible for maintaining the balance between calcium and phosphorus in the body), vitamin K2-7 increases healthy bone deposits by increasing collagen production through osteoblastic cells and managing calcium deposits in the arteries, and elemental zinc & magnesium enhances bone regeneration by improving bone health through initiation of certain pathways and reducing the activity of bone resorbing cell thus  helping in the management of osteoporosis in affected individuals.

    How to use OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET

    Take OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Side Effects Of OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET

    Common

    • signs of hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in blood) such as tiredness, weakness, vomiting, excessive urination, high blood pressure
    • headache
    • skin rash
    • excess thirst
    • nausea
    • abdominal pain
    • urinary tract infection

    Uncommon

    • high blood pressure
    • drowsiness
    • high fever
    • anorexia (eating disorder)
    • ophthalmic conditions such as conjunctivitis, photophobia

    Rare

    • signs of hypercalcemia (increased calcium levels in blood) such as loss of appetite, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, headache, sluggishness, drowsiness, weakness,
    • signs of extreme hypercalcemia (very high calcium levels in blood) such as high fever, thirsty, dehydration, passing more urine, wetting the bed, constipation, stomach pain, blockage of the bowel, irregular heartbeat, urinary bladder infection, restricted growth, and/or mental problems.
    • signs of allergic reactions such as itchy skin, skin rashes, and/or reddening of the skin.

    Stop taking OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET and contact your doctor if you experience any of the following side effects:    

    • signs of severe allergic reactions such as itchy skin, skin rashes, and reddening of the skin

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Headache:

    If OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET causes headache, then take rest and drink plenty of fluids. Try to avoid drinking alcohol. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller. Headaches should usually go away after the first week of taking OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET. If it lasts more than a week or severe, inform your doctor.

    Nausea

    Try to take OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET with or just after a meal or a snack. Stick to simple meals. Avoid eating rich or spicy food. Consult your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    Thirst:

    Try to drink plenty of cold water and sip on cold unsweetened drinks and use lip balm if your lips are dry. Brush your teeth twice a day and use mouthwash. Consult and inform your doctor if the symptom gets worse.

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET should be used with caution during pregnancy and in women planning for pregnancy only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Breastfeeding

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET should be used with caution in breastfeeding women only if it is clearly necessary. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Driving and Using Machines

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or operate machines. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Kidney

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems such as renal osteodystrophy. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Liver

    OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET should be used with caution in patients with liver problems such as non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.

    Allergy

    Do not take OSTIUM K2 FORTE TABLET if you are allergic to Calcitriol, other vitamin D metabolites (such as alfacalcidol, colecalciferol), and/or any other ingredients of this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking the medicine.
