Ranbaxy ORS Liquid Apple Flavour belongs to oral rehydration salts (ORS) which are used to replenish water and essential electrolytes. It is also used to reduce stool output and vomiting. It contains electrolytes like sodium chloride, potassium chloride, sodium citrate and dextrose which are important to maintaining normal fluid balance in the body.
It hydrates the body and restores the lost electrolytes during conditions which involve excessive fluid loss like loose motions or vomiting. ORS helps to manage dehydration and lowers the need for hospitalization.
Dextrose or glucose is the primary ingredient of ORS. It eases the absorption of sodium and water in the small intestine. Sodium and potassium are required as replacements for these essential ions during diarrhoea and vomiting. Citrate corrects the excess acid levels that occur because of diarrhoea.
