    Introduction About ORNISTOP SUSPENSION

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION contains Ornidazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiprotozoals. It is used to manage parasitic infections like amoebiasis (amoebic infection causing dysentery) and trichomoniasis (a sexually transmitted infection).

    Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal that kills parasites and bacteria that live in the absence of oxygen by generating harmful molecule which damages the DNA of the parasites and bacteria.

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ORNISTOP SUSPENSION. Before taking ORNISTOP SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, kidney problems or liver disease. It should be used with caution among women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION should be used with caution in children so, consult your child’s doctor for advice. Contact your doctor if you feel any side effects or if any of the symptoms worsen.

    How to use ORNISTOP SUSPENSION

    Take ORNISTOP SUSPENSION as advised by your physician. Shake well before use. Your doctor will decide the proper dose and duration for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition.

    Rare

    • low white blood cell count
    • impaired taste sense
    • itching, skin reactions

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Skin itching:

    Avoid hot showers as it can worsen the irritation. Do not scratch the affected area. Use protective clothing when going outdoors. Regularly moisturize your skin. If symptom persists, contact your doctor.

    Pregnancy

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Breastfeeding

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Driving and Using Machines

    Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel sleepy, dizzy or less conscious after taking ORNISTOP SUSPENSION.

    Alcohol

    Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking ORNISTOP SUSPENSION as it may worsen the side effects.

    Kidney

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION should be used with caution in patients on haemodialysis. Consult your doctor taking it.

    Liver

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION should be taken with caution in patients with liver impairment. Consult your doctor before taking it.

    Allergy

    Do not take ORNISTOP SUSPENSION if you are allergic to Ornidazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

    Others

    Before taking ORNISTOP SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you have:

    • epilepsy
    • multiple sclerosis

    Use in Pediatrics:

    ORNISTOP SUSPENSION should be used with caution in children. Consult your child’s doctor for advice.

    Interactions

    A. Drug-Drug interactions:

    Before taking ORNISTOP SUSPENSION, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:

    • medicines used to dissolve blood clots (Ex. warfarin)
    • vecuronium bromide (used as a muscle relaxant)

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally took more of ORNISTOP SUSPENSION, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital.
