Introduction About ONBREZ BREEZHALER
ONBREZ BREEZHALER contains Indacaterol which belongs to a group of medicines called Bronchodilators. It is used in adults for the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Symptoms include shortness of breath, wheezing, mucus production and cough.
ONBREZ BREEZHALER is not recommended for use in patients with asthma. ONBREZ BREEZHALER should be used with caution in patients with patients with heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, fits. Consult your doctor before using it.
ONBREZ BREEZHALER should be used in pregnant and breastfeeding women only if it is considered clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before using it.
ONBREZ BREEZHALER is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age and it should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before using it.
The most common side effects of using ONBREZ BREEZHALER are sore throat, runny nose, blocked nose, sneezing, coughing and headache. Consult your doctor if any of the symptoms worsen.

How ONBREZ BREEZHALER Works
ONBREZ BREEZHALER works by relaxing the muscles of the lungs. This helps to open the airways, making it easier to get air in and out of the lungs.
How to use ONBREZ BREEZHALER
Use ONBREZ BREEZHALER as advised by your physician. It is for inhalation use only. Do not swallow the medicine. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Open the inhaler. Hold the inhaler upright. Pierce capsule by firmly pressing both side buttons at the same time. Breathe out fully and the inhale the medicine deeply.
Your doctor will decide the right dose and duration depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition.
Side Effects Of ONBREZ BREEZHALER
Common
- cold-like symptoms (sore throat, runny nose, blocked nose, sneezing, coughing, headache)
- feeling of pressure or pain in the cheeks and forehead (inflammation of the sinuses)
- dizziness
- palpitations
- muscle spasm
- swollen hands, ankles and feet (edema)
- itching/rash
- chest pain
- pain in muscles, bones or joints
Uncommon
- fast heartbeat
- tingling or numbness
Rare
Stop using ONBREZ BREEZHALER and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:
- crushing chest pain
- symptoms of high levels of sugar in your blood (diabetes) such as feeling tired, very thirsty and hungry (without gaining weight) and will pass more urine than usual
- irregular heartbeat
- allergic reaction such as rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing or swallowing, dizziness
- have difficulty breathing with wheezing or coughing
- tightness of the chest, coughing, wheezing or breathlessness immediately after using the medicine (signs of bronchospasm)
How To Manage Side Effects
Headache:
Rest and relax. Drink plenty of fluids such as water or ORS (Oral Rehydrating Solution) and apply a pain-relieving balm on the head if necessary. Contact your doctor if your headache did not improve.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Get enough sleep. Avoid driving or operate any machines while you are feeling dizzy. Contact your doctor if your dizziness did not improve.
Skin rash:
Avoid hot bath because hot water can irritate your skin further. Do not scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and wear protective clothing while going outside. Use unscented moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. Contact your doctor if your rashes worsen.

ONBREZ BREEZHALER should be used in pregnant women only if it is considered clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before using it.
Breastfeeding
ONBREZ BREEZHALER should be used in breastfeeding women only if it is considered clearly necessary. Contact your doctor before using it.
Driving and Using Machines
ONBREZ BREEZHALER is unlikely to affect your ability to drive or use machines.
Kidney
ONBREZ BREEZHALER can be used safely in patients with kidney disease and do not require dose adjustment. Consult your doctor before using it.
Liver
ONBREZ BREEZHALER can be used safely in patients with mild to moderate liver disease with no dose adjustment. There is no information on use of this medicine in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor before using it.
Allergy
Do not use ONBREZ BREEZHALER if you are allergic to Indacaterol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Lungs
ONBREZ BREEZHALER is not recommended for use in patients with asthma. Consult your doctor before using it.
Heart Disease
ONBREZ BREEZHALER should be used with caution in patients with heart disease. Consult your doctor before using it.
Others
Before using ONBREZ BREEZHALER, inform your doctor if you:
- have diabetes
- are intolerant to some sugar (lactose)
- have epilepsy
- have thyroid gland problems (thyrotoxicosis)
Use in Pediatrics:
ONBREZ BREEZHALER is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor before using it.
Use in Geriatrics:
ONBREZ BREEZHALER should be used with caution in elderly patients. Consult your doctor before using it.
Interactions
A. Drug - Drug interactions:
Before using ONBREZ BREEZHALER, inform your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicine:
- medicines for breathing problems (Ex. salmeterol, theophylline and formoterol)
- beta blockers (medicines used for high blood pressure or other heart problems) (Ex. propranolol) or for the eye problem called glaucoma (Ex. timolol)
- steroids (used to manage inflammatory conditions) (Ex. prednisolone)
- diuretics (water tablets) used for high blood pressure (Ex. hydrochlorothiazide)
Overdosage:
If you or anyone else accidentally inhale too much of ONBREZ BREEZHALER, consult your doctor immediately or visit the nearby hospital. Symptoms of overdose are heart beating faster than usual, headache, drowsiness, nauseous or vomiting.
