    Introduction About OMNACORTIL CREAM

    OMNACORTIL CREAM contains Methylprednisolone which belongs to the group of medicines called Corticosteroids. It is used to manage atopic dermatitis (eczema).

    Atopic dermatitis is an allergic skin condition that makes your skin itchy, red, dry and irritated. It is characterized by small, raised bumps on the skin with pus accompanied by severe skin itching, redness and inflammation.

    OMNACORTIL CREAM can also be used to reduce skin inflammation and allergic reactions on the skin. When applied topically, it also reduces skin redness, itchiness, pain and burning sensation.

    Apply a thin layer of OMNACORTIL CREAM on the affected areas. Do not use OMNACORTIL CREAM for more than the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor. Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose or with open wounds. Do not cover the application site with bandages, dressings or clothes. Do not wear nappies to children after applying OMNACORTIL CREAM.

    Before using OMNACORTIL CREAM inform your doctor if you have any other skin problems apart from eczema such as acne, rosacea (skin redness) or skin thinning. You must also inform your doctor if you have any infection or inflammation in the affected skin areas.

    OMNACORTIL CREAM is generally not recommended for use during the first three months of pregnancy. However, it may be used in the later stages of pregnancy if prescribed by the physician. OMNACORTIL CREAM should be used in breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. Do not apply OMNACORTIL CREAM on your breasts.

    The most common side effects of using OMNACORTIL CREAM are itching and burning sensation at the site of application. Contact your doctor if it troubles you.

    How OMNACORTIL CREAM Works

    OMNACORTIL CREAM is a corticosteroid medicine with anti-inflammatory and immune suppressant properties. When applied topically, it reduces the release of certain chemicals (prostaglandins) on the skin that causes skin rash, itching and inflammation. As a result, it reduces skin itchiness, redness, pain, inflammation and burning sensation. It also lessens the chances of fluid build-up under the skin and pus oozing out from the inflamed skin areas.

    How to use OMNACORTIL CREAM

    Apply a thin layer of OMNACORTIL CREAM on the affected area or as directed by the physician. It is for external use only. Wash your hands before and after application. Avoid contact of this medicine with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose or with open wounds. Do not cover the application site with bandages, dressings or clothes. Do not wear nappies to children after applying OMNACORTIL CREAM.

    Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight and disease condition. Do not use OMNACORTIL CREAM for more than the stipulated duration recommended by your doctor.

    Side Effects Of OMNACORTIL CREAM

    Common

    • Itching and burning sensation at the site of application

    • skin dryness, redness, blisters

    Rare

    • skin infection, swelling or irritation at the site of application
    • thinning of the skin, acne

    Stop applying OMNACORTIL CREAM and contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects:

    • blurred vision or other visual disturbances

    How To Manage Side Effects

    Itching and Burning sensation at the site of Application:

    Avoid wearing tight-fitting clothes. Do not rub or scratch the affected areas. Place an icepack on the affected areas if necessary. Avoid using any irritant soaps or cosmetics on your skin. Consult your doctor if the symptom did not improve.

    Pregnancy

    OMNACORTIL CREAM is generally not recommended for use during the first three months of pregnancy. However, it may be used in the later stages of pregnancy if prescribed by the physician. If you are using OMNACORTIL CREAM during pregnancy, make sure to avoid applying this medicine on large body surfaces and do not cover the application site with tight fitting clothes.

    Breastfeeding

    OMNACORTIL CREAM should be used in breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician. Do not apply OMNACORTIL CREAM on your breasts.

    Driving and Using Machines

    OMNACORTIL CREAM does not affect your ability to drive or use machines.

    Allergy

    Do not use OMNACORTIL CREAM if you are allergic to Methylprednisolone.

    Others

    OMNACORTIL CREAM is not recommended for use if you:

    • already have eczema that has become infected
    • have rosacea (skin redness)
    • have acne (including the face, skin folds, gorin, armpits)
    • have disease-causing skin thinning (such as atrophic skin diseases)
    • have sweaty skin
    • have any skin reaction (such as redness or itching) caused due to vaccination
    • have bacterial, viral or fungal skin infection

    Before using OMNACORTIL CREAM, inform your doctor if you:

    • have any bacterial or fungal infections

    Use in pediatrics:

    OMNACORTIL CREAM is not recommended for use in infants aged less than 4 months. It should be used in children (aged between 4 months to 3 years) only if prescribed by the physician. Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

    Use in geriatrics:

    OMNACORTIL CREAM should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or above). Therefore, consult your doctor before using it.

    Interactions

    A. Drug - Drug interactions:

    Before applying OMNACORTIL CREAM, inform your doctor if you are taking any medicines including prescription, non-prescription and over the counter medicines.

    Overdosage:

    If you or anyone else accidentally applied OMNACORTIL CREAM excessively, wash the application site with water. Consult your doctor if the irritation persists.
